Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The quickest published manufacturer 0–60 mph claim in the sources here belongs to the Rimac Nevera R, at 1.66 seconds. That is a manufacturer specification, not a result from a common test shared by every car below. In instrumented testing by Car and Driver, the quickest of the three comparable cars it tested was the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach at 1.9 seconds.
Those distinctions matter: rollout, vehicle variant, and test conditions can change the number. The ranking below is ordered by published manufacturer 0–60 mph claims; a separate section compares independent test results.
Fastest electric cars ranked by published 0–60 mph claim
These figures come from manufacturers and were not established in one controlled, head-to-head test. The sources do not show that the cars used the same surface, tires, preparation, weather, or rollout procedure, so small differences should not be read as a definitive test ranking.

1. Rimac Nevera R: 1.66 seconds

Rimac lists 2,107 hp, 1.72 seconds to 100 km/h, a 7.90-second quarter-mile, and a 430 km/h top speed “with manufacturer oversight.” Those are Rimac specifications; the source does not establish an independently tested 0–60 mph result for the R. 2. Rimac Nevera: 1.74 seconds
Rimac’s standard Nevera specification explicitly attaches a one-foot rollout to its 1.74-second 0–60 mph figure. The same page lists 1,914 hp, 2,340 Nm of torque, 1.81 seconds to 100 km/h, 8.25 seconds over 402 metres, and a 412 km/h top speed. Do not transfer these figures to the Nevera R. Rimac Nevera specifications.
The standard Nevera uses four dedicated motors, one for each wheel, with a torque-vectoring system, according to Rimac. That describes its engineering, but does not by itself prove a comparative acceleration advantage. Rimac’s account of the 412 km/h attempt quotes chief test and development driver Miro Zrnčević praising the car’s composure and stability; this is the manufacturer’s account, not an independent review. The release also lists up to 700 kW (938 hp) for this Turbo S with Launch Control and up to 320 kW charging at suitable 800-volt DC stations under ideal conditions. These claims apply to the Turbo S, not the separate Taycan Turbo GT Weissach. Porsche’s 2025 Taycan announcement.

What independent 0–60 mph testing shows
Car and Driver’s instrumented results offer a like-publication comparison for three cars, rather than a test of every model in the claim-based ranking. The article reports the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach at 1.9 seconds, and the Lucid Air Sapphire and Tesla Model S Plaid at 2.1 seconds each. It calls the Taycan result the first sub-two-second 0–60 mph result in its testing and reports a 9.2-second quarter-mile at 152 mph. Car and Driver’s quickest-EV test results.
| Car and Driver test subject | Instrumented 0–60 mph | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach | 1.9 seconds | A different variant from the 2025 Taycan Turbo S in Porsche’s 2.3-second claim. |
| Lucid Air Sapphire | 2.1 seconds | Independent test result; Lucid’s 1.89-second figure is its own specification. |
| Tesla Model S Plaid | 2.1 seconds | Independent test result; Tesla’s 1.99-second figure subtracts rollout. |
The results should be attributed to the publication and its test method. Car and Driver’s cited article does not provide a Nevera R test, so its figures cannot establish a tested four-way ranking against the Rimacs.

Why 0–60 mph figures are not directly interchangeable
Rollout changes the clock
Rollout is the distance a car moves before timing begins. Tesla says its Plaid 1.99-second figure has rollout subtracted; Rimac marks the standard Nevera’s 1.74-second figure with a one-foot rollout. The sources do not establish matching rollout treatment across every figure in the claim-based table. Read the method alongside the time rather than treating hundredths of a second as decisive.
Variants and test conditions matter
Nevera and Nevera R are different models, as are Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo GT Weissach. A result for one should not be assigned to another. The published material here does not establish a shared venue, road surface, tire setup, weather, preparation, or repeatability protocol for all manufacturer claims.
Acceleration is only one performance measure
0–60 mph measures a launch to a specified speed. It is not the same as 0–100 km/h, quarter-mile elapsed time, trap speed, or top speed. For instance, Lucid publishes both an 8.95-second quarter-mile and a 205 mph top speed for the Sapphire, while Tesla lists a 9.23-second quarter-mile at 155 mph trap speed for the Plaid. Rimac gives quarter-mile values for both Neveras and a 430 km/h manufacturer-overseen top-speed figure for the R. These are useful additional specifications, but they do not convert one car’s 0–60 claim into a comparable result on another metric.
How to choose the quickest EV for your use
- Choose the measurement first: Decide whether you care about a manufacturer’s 0–60 claim, an instrumented 0–60 result, quarter-mile performance, or top speed. They answer different questions.
- Check the exact trim and method: Confirm the model year, variant, rollout treatment, wheel and tire package, and any launch or performance equipment attached to a quoted figure.
- Look beyond the launch: Compare quarter-mile time and trap speed when available, and consider braking and circuit performance only where reliable evidence exists. The figures assembled here do not provide a complete, matched set for every car on those measures.
- Match performance to ownership needs: Consider body style, EPA-estimated range, charging, and whether the exact car is currently available new. For example, Tesla’s current page flags Model S as no longer in production.
There is no single universal “fastest EV” answer without naming the metric and method. By published manufacturer 0–60 mph claim, the Nevera R leads this comparison; among the cited instrumented results, the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach is quickest.
