Source for the ranking and speeds: GTABase’s 2026 top-speed ranking. The page reports the Cartuccia GT was added in Title Update 1.73 on July 14, 2026, and lists an in-game price of GTA$2,395,000; check the live in-game listing before relying on that price, since prices can change.
Which “fastest” answer applies to your race?
Standard performance: Cartuccia GT
If HSW is unavailable on your platform or excluded by the race rules, the Cartuccia GT is the current top-speed leader in the cited ranking. The Veleno GT is close behind, only 0.25 mph lower in that list.

HSW performance: Banshee GTS
The Banshee GTS reaches the highest listed speed when HSW upgrades are included. GTABase identifies HSW availability on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; some races may disable HSW, so check the event’s rules rather than assuming the upgraded figure applies.
Top speed is not lap time
A car that reaches a higher speed on a straight is not automatically the quickest around a circuit. Cornering, acceleration, braking and the route all matter. Broughy1322’s vehicle-testing resource reports top-speed and lap-time results as separate measures: GTA 5 Online car testing.
Rank #2
- The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created and now packed with layers of new detail.
- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.
- Grand Theft Auto V also comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, the dynamic and ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe for multiple players.
How these top speeds are measured
Broughy1322’s stated method measures a vehicle’s highest constant speed after acceleration has stopped. The tester uses a precisely measured 0.2-mile section between creator checkpoints, records five runs and times them using frame-level video analysis. The methodology page reports a maximum four-frame variance across results, equivalent to a maximum standard deviation of 0.25 mph; most results varied by two frames or less. Those figures describe this tester’s method, not every community ranking.
The method’s author cautions that in-game menu statistics and non-digital speedometers are inaccurate for vehicle comparisons. Conditions in GTA Online can also produce higher or lower observed speeds, so a one-off speedometer reading is not directly comparable to a controlled test. See Broughy1322’s top-speed testing methodology.

Why the ranking may change
Rockstar’s Title Update 1.73 notes document the Kortz Center Heist update and new vehicles, with entries dated July 2026. The notes establish the update context; they do not publish a measured speed ranking. The figures above are from GTABase’s independent ranking, not Rockstar. Because new vehicles and updates can shift the leaderboard, rankings should be treated as date-specific rather than permanent.
