The seven current-model candidates below are the ones whose manufacturers put the most weight on everyday road use: a more upright or less extreme riding position, clutch and throttle behaviour that works in traffic, rider aids, and passenger accommodation. Model details reflect 2026 model-year listings as they appeared in October 2026.
This is a shortlist to test-ride, not a ranking. The manufacturer pages and the FIM 2026 sportbike homologation list do not compare these bikes against each other on comfort or real-world performance, and none of the manufacturer comfort statements below are independent road tests. The title promises ten bikes; the material we could verify supports seven candidates plus one comparison model, and we have not padded the list to reach ten.
If you want a starting point, the Honda CBR650R E-Clutch and the Kawasaki Ninja 650 list the most street-oriented features on their U.S. pages: a clutch that can be used without the lever, selectable torque control, traction control and an ABS option.
What “street-friendly” means in this shortlist
For this article, street-friendly means a bike you can ride every day without fighting it. That covers four things:

- Engine Type: Single Cylinder, 4-Stroke, Air-Cooled, Fuel-Injected – Built for durability and consistent performance.
- Fuel System: Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) – Optimized fuel delivery for maximum efficiency.
- Transmission: 6-Speed Manual Sport Clutch – Seamless gear shifts for ultimate control.
- Brakes: Front & Rear Hydraulic Disc – Precision stopping power for enhanced safety.
- Weight: 295 lbs (Net) | 365 lbs (Gross) – Lightweight yet robust for peak performance.
- Riding position and comfort over ordinary road distances, including how the seat, bars and footpegs sit for your body. Seat height is the only position figure these sources publish consistently, and only for one model.
- Manageable power delivery, meaning throttle response and clutch behaviour at low speed and in stop-and-go traffic, rather than peak output.
- Suspension and rider aids such as adjustable or well-specified front forks, ABS, traction control and slipper clutches.
- Practicality, such as a passenger seat that a second person can actually use.
These qualities vary a great deal with rider height, inseam, riding style and the kind of roads you use. Treat manufacturer descriptions as a checklist of what to test, not as proof.
The shortlist at a glance
The table lists only what the manufacturer pages and the FIM document state. Where a value was not published in the material we checked, the cell says so rather than guessing.

The seven candidates
Honda CBR650R E-Clutch
The CBR650R is the most fully documented bike on this list, because Honda’s U.S. page publishes its engine, chassis and clutch details. It uses a 649cc liquid-cooled inline-four with a six-speed transmission. Honda’s E-Clutch can operate without the handlebar clutch lever, while the lever stays fitted for rider use. That matters most in traffic, where a bike you can start and stop without constant clutch work is less tiring. Selectable Torque Control adds a second layer of throttle management, and a 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork is fitted. The published seat height is 31.9 inches, which is a useful first check for shorter riders.

Honda describes the bike this way: “With its high-revving inline-four, responsive chassis, E-Clutch, and striking aesthetics, the CBR650R perfectly blends our racing DNA with the open road.” That is manufacturer wording, not an independent assessment. The U.S. base price is $9,199 plus a $600 destination charge.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Honda CBR500R
The CBR500R is the lower-displacement option in Honda’s range. It has a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, a slipper clutch and a stepped two-piece seat, and it carries the sport styling of the larger CBR models. A slipper clutch limits rear-wheel hop when you downshift hard, which helps when riding is not all-out. The U.S. base price is $6,399 plus a $600 destination charge. Suspension specifications and seat height were not stated on the page we checked, so measure the bike yourself before deciding it fits you.
Kawasaki Ninja 650
The Ninja 650 is the other bike here with a strong road-first message. Kawasaki lists a 649cc engine and highlights passenger-seat comfort and KTRC traction control. An ABS version is available, which adds to the bike’s appeal for riders who want electronic help in wet or unfamiliar conditions. The U.S. base prices are $7,599 without ABS and $8,199 with it.

- Entry-Level Sport Bike Design: The HHH Upgraded 250cc Motorcycle GTX 250 with EFI features a 6 speed manual transmission, hydraulic disc brakes (dual front), and 17-inch wheels with street tires
- Altitude Adaptability with EFI: Electronic Fuel Injection automatically compensates for changes in altitude by sensing air temperature and density, eliminating the need to manually adjust carburetors jetting at different elevations
- Enhanced Throttle Response: By delivering fuel directly into the combustion chamber in response to the rider's input, the EFI system eliminates throttle lag associated with carburetors, resulting in smoother and more instantaneous acceleration with dual front headlights and sporty styling
- Zongshen Engine with EFI Technology: HHH GTX 250 is powered by a Zongshen-brand engine and uses electronic fuel injection for better performance and fuel economy with high power output
- Easier Starting System: The EFI system optimizes fuel delivery for ambient conditions, ensuring reliable and easy engine starts, especially in cold weather, without the need for a manual choke
Caveat: we could only see Kawasaki’s U.S. page through a search-result listing, not the page itself. Check model-year details and the ABS and passenger-seat specifications with a Kawasaki dealer before you rely on them.
Suzuki GSX-8R
Suzuki describes the GSX-8R’s 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork, with 130mm of travel, as contributing to a comfortable and controlled ride. Treat that as Suzuki’s own characterisation. The engine, rider aids and U.S. pricing were not stated in the material we checked, so they need confirming from Suzuki directly. Like the Kawasaki, this description came from a search-result extract rather than the full page.

Yamaha R7
Yamaha presents the R7 as suitable for both road and track use, and mentions updated electronics and handling. The page we checked is Yamaha’s German-market site, so its specifications and availability do not transfer to other countries. If you are buying in the U.S. or elsewhere, look up the local Yamaha page for the 2026 model before comparing it against the others. Engine, suspension and price details were not stated in the page we checked.

Aprilia RS 660
The RS 660 appears in the FIM 2026 sportbike homologation table. That establishes that the model is classed as a sportbike. It does not show how the bike rides on the road, whether it is sold in your market, or whether it is currently on sale as a new bike. Treat it as a candidate to research, not a confirmed street option.
Ducati SuperSport 950
Ducati’s U.S. model page labels the SuperSport 950 as a sport-touring motorcycle. Of the seven, it is the only one the manufacturer frames around touring use, which is a meaningful signal for road riding. Confirm the current model-year status and local inventory before treating it as a new-bike option, because the page we checked did not establish either. Its engine, suspension and price were not stated in the material we checked.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A comparison bike, not a street recommendation
The FIM 2026 sportbike homologation table also lists the Honda CBR600RR. Nothing in the material we checked establishes that it is street-friendly. Treat it as a sharper-edged comparison against the CBR650R, and leave it out of a road-first buying decision unless you can find credible evidence of its comfort on ordinary roads.

How to check these bikes before you buy
Manufacturer pages are the best source for specifications and current prices, but they are not road tests. Use this sequence to verify each candidate:
- Open the manufacturer’s site for your own country, not a different market’s page, and select the 2026 model year.
- Record the base price and any destination or freight charge separately, then ask a dealer for the out-the-door price with local fees and taxes.
- Confirm whether the version you want has ABS or traction control, because some models are sold in more than one configuration.
- Ask the dealer to put you on the bike, then check reach to the bars and footpegs, and whether your feet reach the ground with your weight on one side.
- Ride the bike in stop-and-go traffic, not just on a open road. Pay attention to clutch effort, throttle response at low revs, and how the bike behaves when you roll off the throttle.
- Ride with a passenger if you plan to carry one, and check the grab handles and footpeg position.
Independent ride reviews from magazines and riders in your region are worth reading for comfort over long distances, which none of the manufacturer statements above can establish.
