There is no source-backed universal ranking of the “top” supercar manufacturers. Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Aston Martin and Koenigsegg stand out for the distinct engineering and design approaches their models represent—but this is a curated selection, not a fastest-to-slowest list. The figures below come from manufacturers and describe specific models; they are not results from a controlled comparison. Current lineups and specifications can change by market.
What makes a manufacturer a “top” supercar brand?
“Top” depends on what matters to you: powertrain, performance claims, track focus, design or rarity. The manufacturers featured here each have a recognizable high-performance road-car program, but the official sources cited do not establish a common ranking or an exhaustive global list.
There is no single shared definition separating a supercar from a hypercar, either. Manufacturers use the labels differently, so this article preserves the terminology each brand uses rather than imposing a hard category boundary. The examples are useful for understanding the range of approaches—not for declaring a class winner.
Five notable supercar manufacturers
Ferrari: supercar heritage and hybrid power
Ferrari explicitly called the F80 its new supercar in an announcement dated 17 October 2024, placing it in a lineage the company associated with cars from the 1984 GTO to the 2016 LaFerrari Aperta. Ferrari stated that the F80 has 1,200 hp of combined maximum power and that production is limited to 799 examples. Those are claims about the F80, not about Ferrari models generally. McLaren’s current supercar page lists the Artura and Artura Spider, the 750S and 750S Spider, and the 788HS and its Spider variant. Koenigsegg’s official supercar page presents the company’s identity and models including the CC850, as well as earlier cars such as the Agera, CCXR, CCX and CCR. How the featured models differ
The table compares only attributes supported by the cited manufacturer sources. It is not a performance leaderboard: the figures use different units, reflect different models and were not produced by a common test.
| Manufacturer and model | Powertrain or approach stated by source | Manufacturer-stated performance or production figures | What the figure describes |

How to interpret speed, power and rarity claims
Keep the units attached to the claim
CV and PS are metric horsepower units, while hp is commonly used for mechanical horsepower. They are not interchangeable labels, and the figures above should be read in the units each manufacturer published. Torque, acceleration, top speed and downforce are also different measures; none alone establishes that one car is “best.”
Separate specifications from comparative tests
The acceleration, output, speed and downforce numbers in this guide are attributed manufacturer claims for named models. The sources do not show a common independent test protocol across brands, so differences in the quoted figures cannot establish which car performs better in real-world or track conditions.
Read production limits as model-specific
The F80’s 799 examples and Valhalla’s 999 cars are announced limits for those models. They do not measure the scarcity of Ferrari or Aston Martin as brands, and a limited production figure alone does not establish desirability or value.
Are these cars pricey?
They sit in the high-performance road-car category, but the cited sources do not establish current, comparable prices. Pricing can depend on market, taxes, configuration and availability; without like-for-like, dated figures, “pricey” is a fair description of the category’s reputation, not a defensible price ranking of these manufacturers.
