Who founded Nilu27, and when was the NILU announced?
News9live reported on May 21, 2024, that former Koenigsegg designer Sasha Selipanov had founded Nilu27 and planned to unveil the brand’s first model, the NILU, on August 15 at the Pebble Beach Concours in California. Nilu27’s official site now presents the NILU as a model, with design details, technical specifications and supplier credits. That current company presentation is distinct from the 2024 announcement: it is not, by itself, confirmation that the car is in production or available to buy.
What is the NILU?
Nilu27 describes the NILU as an analog-focused hypercar designed around an “authentic” driving experience and reduced reliance on technology. The company says its inspirations include classic Italian automotive design, Bauhaus, mathematics, 1960s Formula 1, American muscle cars and avant-garde metal. The company frames the choice as a reaction to increasingly technology-led cars. Its site states: “The current obsession with technology has desensitized the authentic automotive experience.” That is Nilu27’s position, rather than an established finding about the automotive industry.
What powertrain and specifications does Nilu27 claim?
Nilu27 says the NILU uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter Hartley V12 in a “Hot V” layout, developed exclusively for the marque. The company says the arrangement lets exhaust heat escape from the exposed engine bay. It pairs the engine with a seven-speed mechanical transmission supplied by Italian company CIMA, describing the setup as a deliberate alternative to a more technology-heavy driving experience.
