The Gladiator announcement describes low-friction turbocharger bearings and pistons, combustion-system changes, and low-pressure cooled EGR alongside a high-pressure EGR system. Those are manufacturer-described design features, not independent evidence of fuel economy, durability or reliability.

A Jeep Grand Cherokee specification document lists a maximum trailer weight rating of 7,400 lb for 2WD and 7,200 lb for 4WD when equipped with the available Trailer Tow Group. The chart also gives a 64-square-foot maximum trailer frontal area and a 30-foot maximum trailer length. The document’s exact model year is not confirmed here, so these figures should not be applied automatically to another Grand Cherokee. What maintenance does the Gladiator EcoDiesel require?
Maintenance instructions vary by year and vehicle. For the 2023 Gladiator diesel, the owner’s manual calls for oil and filter changes, refilling the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank, and replacing the fuel filter and draining water at each oil-change interval. It says not to exceed 10,000 miles for oil-change or fuel-filter requirements. In jurisdictions that mandate biodiesel blends greater than 5%, the manual specifies an 8,000-mile or six-month interval. Fuel-filter specification
The 2023 Gladiator manual calls for a Mopar fuel filter or one meeting a 3-micron rating and the manufacturer’s filtration and water-separation requirements. Are there EcoDiesel recalls or emissions updates to check?
FCA’s October 20, 2022 recall communication identifies certain 2020–2022 Jeep Wrangler and 2021–2022 Jeep Gladiator 3.0L diesel vehicles for a high-pressure fuel-pump issue. A pump could fail prematurely, sending debris into the fuel system and potentially causing fuel starvation and an unexpected loss of motive power. The notice describes the affected vehicle population, not every vehicle in those model years, and it does not establish whether an individual vehicle has been repaired.
