The biggest 2024 update to the Ford F-150 Raptor is its new FOX Dual Live Valve shock technology, which adds continuously variable rebound control to the shocks’ position-sensitive compression control. What changed on the 2024 F-150 Raptor?
FOX Dual Live Valve shocks
Ford’s headline mechanical update is new FOX Dual Live Valve shock technology. The shocks retain position-sensitive compression control and add continuously variable rebound control. Ford says the system uses off-road algorithms developed by Ford Performance. In practical terms, the update is about adapting shock behavior to changing terrain; Ford’s announcement does not provide a direct performance comparison or quantified improvement over the previous model.

Modular front bumper and accessory options
A modular front bumper is available for Raptor models. Ford also identifies an available light bar and a Ford Performance winch kit installed by a dealer, using a WARN winch rated at 12,000 pounds. These are optional equipment or accessory paths, not equipment to assume is fitted to every Raptor. Check the specific truck’s bumper and confirm accessory fitment before buying or ordering parts.

New color and graphics
Shelter Green is a new 2024 color exclusive to the Raptor, according to Ford. The truck also gets new symmetrical hood graphics and Raptor side graphics; the Raptor R has its own graphics details. Ford’s announcement does not establish option prices or a full availability matrix for paint and graphics.
Raptor and Raptor R: different engines and output
The Raptor R is a separate, higher-output variant—not simply a Raptor with different graphics. Ford’s 2024 technical specifications list these SAE engine ratings; Ford cautions that results may vary.

Both models are listed with a 10-speed automatic, two-speed torque-on-demand four-wheel drive with mechanical lock, an electronic locking rear differential and a 4.10 axle. Off-road features carried into the 2024 model
Ford lists seven selectable Terrain Management drive modes and standard Trail Control for the Raptor. One-Pedal Drive is available. These are part of the truck’s off-road feature set; Ford’s model-year announcement does not identify them as new for 2024, so they are distinct from the headline shock update.

How the published towing ratings compare
Ford’s 2024 towing guide lists maximum towing of 8,200 pounds for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost H.O. Raptor and 8,700 pounds for the 5.2-liter supercharged Raptor R. These are configuration-dependent maximum ratings, not guaranteed towing capacity for every truck or a promise that maximum towing can be combined with maximum payload. What to check on a specific truck
- Variant: Confirm whether the truck is a Raptor or Raptor R; the engine and output differ substantially.
- Equipment: Verify the shock, bumper, paint and accessory configuration on the actual vehicle rather than assuming optional items are included.
- Accessories: Confirm the exact bumper and vehicle compatibility before purchasing the light bar or dealer-installed winch kit.
