The Honda models documented with a K24A-series engine are the CR-V, Accord and Element. Honda confirms the early applications: the 2002 CR-V’s K24A1 and the 2003 Accord and Element’s K24A4. A published application catalog also lists later K24A8 versions of the Accord and Element through 2011. The suffix matters: a K24A1, K24A4 or K24A8 is not simply interchangeable with every engine described broadly as a K24.

Honda’s historical overview describes the larger engine as 2.4 liters (2,354 cc) and names the K24A1 CR-V and K24A4 Accord and Element debut applications. Its statement is about debut years, not a complete year-by-year fitment catalog. The later ranges above come from the supplier catalog and should be treated as listed application coverage, not a guarantee for every market, trim or individual vehicle.
What about the Acura TSX K24A2?

Why the full engine code matters
“K24A” is often used as shorthand, but application lists identify specific suffixes such as K24A1, K24A2, K24A4 and K24A8. Do not extend this list to every K24-family engine: K24Z and K24W applications are different codes, even when found in familiar Honda models.

A specialist seller describes four-character K24A stamps as a pattern associated with Japanese-market engines and longer codes such as K24A2 as export-market examples. How to verify the engine in a specific car
- Read the complete engine stamp. The specialist guide places the stamp near the starter on the driver-side of the block, below the intake manifold. It is seller guidance rather than a Honda service procedure, so confirm the location using service information for the vehicle.
- Record the vehicle details. Check model year, market, trim and vehicle records. A catalog year range—especially an overlapping year such as 2006—does not prove which engine is in a particular car.
- Match the suffix, not just the family name. Confirm whether the engine is K24A1, K24A4, K24A8 or another exact code before ordering parts or evaluating a replacement.
- For a replacement or swap, check the complete setup. Engine code alone does not establish fit. Intake manifold, ECU and immobilizer, transmission, accessory layout, wiring harness and exhaust can all affect compatibility.
Engine size and application-list limits
The Honda historical description and the SB International catalog give the K24’s displacement as 2.4 liters, or 2,354 cc. The available application evidence documents model-and-variant pairings; it does not establish that every car within a listed year range, in every country or trim, used the same engine. Confirm the stamping and vehicle-specific service records before making a repair or purchase decision.
