The 2025 Lexus ES keeps the traditional luxury-sedan recipe: a quiet, comfortable cabin, generous passenger space and a polished interior. It is essentially a carryover model, not a redesign. What is new on the 2025 Lexus ES?
Very little. The 2025 ES is a midsize, five-seat luxury sedan carried over from the prior model year apart from a Black Line Special Edition package, according to Cars.com’s 2025 ES overview. Lexus’s announcement of an all-new eighth-generation ES in April 2025 refers to the next generation, not a redesign of this 2025 model.
Is the 2025 Lexus ES a good luxury sedan?
For buyers who prioritize comfort over sporty handling, the ES’s strengths align with its traditional brief. Cars.com’s review praises its smooth ride, quiet cabin, quality interior and ample passenger space. The same review flags a coarse-sounding four-cylinder, less engaging handling than sportier rivals and a rear seat that does not fold. These are reviewer assessments, not independent measurements or firsthand testing for this article.
Which 2025 ES powertrain should you choose?
The U.S. lineup presents three distinct trade-offs: standard all-wheel drive on the ES 250, V6 power in the ES 350, or greater fuel economy from the ES 300h hybrid. Cars.com reports that the ES 350 and ES 300h are front-wheel drive and do not offer AWD, so the choice involves more than engine preference.

Cars.com lists the hybrid at an EPA-estimated 44 mpg combined. Lexus USA specifies 43 mpg city, 44 highway and 44 combined for the ES 300h. Is the ES 300h worth considering?
It is the economy-focused choice in the U.S. range: Lexus’s stated combined estimate is 44 mpg, while the ES 350 offers a 302-hp V6 and the ES 250 is the version with standard AWD. Choose the hybrid if fuel economy is the priority and front-wheel drive suits your needs; the available evidence does not establish comparative real-world fuel costs or acceleration tests across versions.

What equipment and safety features are included?
For the U.S. market, Lexus says every 2025 ES includes Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 and an eight-inch touchscreen. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on specified trims or packages, and other equipment depends on grade. How does the Canadian lineup differ?
Trim names, packages and pricing vary by market, so U.S. specifications should not be treated as a universal lineup. As Canadian-market examples, Lexus Canada lists starting MSRPs of C$55,414 for the ES 300h Premium and C$53,364 for the ES 350 Premium. What does the next-generation ES change?
On April 23, 2025, Lexus announced an all-new eighth-generation ES with a multi-pathway range that includes hybrid and battery-electric powertrains, plus front- and all-wheel-drive options.
