The list includes both nameplate exits and changes to particular powertrains or trims, so it does not mean every vehicle named here disappeared in every market—or that every version of each nameplate ended.
That distinction matters: “won’t make it back for 2026” means absent from, or changed in, the 2026 U.S. lineup. It is different from a vehicle whose 2026 model year is its last. Remaining new-car inventory may still be for sale after a model is discontinued.
Vehicles reported discontinued or dropped for the 2026 U.S. model year
The table follows the scope of Cars.com’s February 9, 2026 roundup. Because its list combines vehicles and narrower powertrain or trim changes, entries are not all whole-nameplate cancellations.

Cars.com’s roundup also discusses the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T and the Alfa Romeo Tonale plug-in hybrid as trim or powertrain changes. They are not whole-nameplate cancellations in this list, so they should not be counted as the entire Charger or Tonale ending.

Why the meaning of “discontinued” varies
A manufacturer can end a full model, stop selling one powertrain or trim, or withdraw a vehicle from one country while continuing it elsewhere. The Cars.com list covers the U.S. market and is a snapshot of reported changes, not a worldwide cancellation register. In particular, its account says the Electrified G80 was discontinued in the U.S. while a refreshed 2026 model was planned for global markets.
Reasons also differ by vehicle. Cars.com points to changing buyer demand, sales, tariffs, EV-market conditions, technical problems and automaker strategy. Those are reported factors across different cases, not one explanation that applies to every entry.

Examples of what the reported figures do—and do not—show
- Cars.com reports Acura TLX U.S. sales of 47,080 in 2015, its peak, and 7,478 in 2024. These are figures as reported by Cars.com, not figures independently established here as manufacturer-reported totals.
- Cars.com reported that Lexus had sold more than 90,000 RC and RC F coupes combined across 62 countries and regions during their run. That is a cumulative total; the roundup does not clearly date the underlying tally, so it should not be read as sales for 2025.
Don’t confuse a 2026 final model year with a model absent for 2026
Some coverage uses “won’t be around next year” to mean a vehicle will end after the 2026 model year. That is a different question from which vehicles are missing from the 2026 lineup. An Associated Press article republished by Edmunds on August 12, 2026 highlighted the Ford Escape, Volkswagen ID.4, Jaguar F-Pace, Toyota GR Supra and Tesla Model S as vehicles that would not be around after 2026. The Escape, ID.4 and GR Supra therefore belong to that final-year framing, not the Cars.com list of vehicles reported absent or changed for the 2026 model year. The F-Pace and Model S appear in both discussions, but the timing described is different.
Can you still buy one?
Yes, potentially. A discontinued model can remain available as new-old-stock at a dealer, and used examples may also be listed. Availability depends on the exact model, trim, location and remaining stock; discontinuation alone does not mean every dealer has sold out.

Nissan’s U.S. Kicks Play page is a specific example: it calls the vehicle discontinued, names 2025 as its final model year and says shoppers may still find examples, although inventory is limited. Edmunds likewise notes that dealers may try to clear remaining vehicles and that buyers may be able to negotiate, but stock can be scarce.
Checks to make before committing
- Confirm the vehicle’s model year, trim and powertrain on the window sticker or purchase documents; a discontinued version may coexist with a continuing version of the same nameplate.
- Ask the seller or manufacturer to confirm the warranty terms for that specific vehicle and whether any coverage depends on its in-service date.
- Check local availability and compare the asking price with comparable vehicles. Limited stock can reduce choice; it does not automatically make a vehicle a bargain.
- For a used example, review its history and condition as you would for any used vehicle.
- If long-term ownership matters, ask the manufacturer or dealer about service and parts support for the exact model and powertrain. A discontinuation is not, by itself, proof that parts or service will be unavailable.
How to read this list
Cars.com’s February 9, 2026 roundup is a dated overview of reported U.S. lineup changes, and its entries include both models and narrower versions. Individual status can vary by market and powertrain, so confirm a specific vehicle’s current model-year status with its manufacturer before buying or relying on a cancellation date.
