The 2026 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero ABS has the highest Kawasaki-listed horsepower among the current U.S. Vulcan cruiser variants covered here, at 82 hp. The Vulcan S follows at 60 hp, while the three Vulcan 900 variants tie at 51 hp. This is a ranking by manufacturer-published peak horsepower—not a dyno comparison or a ranking of every Kawasaki cruiser ever sold.

The figures below are Kawasaki’s published maximum horsepower, with the engine speed at which each peak is listed. Torque, displacement and engine layout add useful context, but they are different measures and do not change the horsepower ranking.

Which Kawasaki cruiser has the most horsepower?

How the models compare
1. Vulcan 1700 Vaquero ABS: 82 hp
The Vaquero’s 82-hp peak is the highest listed here. Its 1,700cc V-twin also has the greatest stated peak torque in the comparison, 107.6 lb-ft at 2,750 rpm. The horsepower and torque peaks occur at different engine speeds, so neither number alone describes how the bike delivers power across its full operating range.

2. Vulcan S: 60 hp
Kawasaki lists 60 hp at 7,500 rpm and 46.5 lb-ft at 6,600 rpm for the 649cc Vulcan S. Its parallel-twin layout differs from the V-twins in the Vaquero and Vulcan 900s, and Kawasaki classifies the S as a sport cruiser. See Kawasaki’s 2026 Vulcan S specifications.
3. Vulcan 900 Classic, Custom and Classic LT: 51 hp each
Kawasaki lists the same 51 hp at 5,500 rpm and 58.3 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm for all three 903cc Vulcan 900 variants. They therefore tie by stated horsepower; the available engine specifications do not support separating them into different power ranks. What this horsepower ranking does—and does not—tell you
Horsepower is the sole ranking measure here, and the figures are manufacturer specifications. Kawasaki lists peak torque separately because torque and horsepower are not interchangeable. For example, the Vulcan 900s have a higher listed peak torque than the Vulcan S, but that does not move them above the S in a horsepower ranking.
The figures also do not establish which motorcycle accelerates faster, has a higher top speed, or feels stronger in every riding situation. No common independent dyno test or other shared measurement protocol is established for these models, so comparing the listed figures is not the same as comparing measured rear-wheel output.

“Every” here means the 2026 U.S. Vulcan variants for which current Kawasaki sources provide specifications: the Vulcan 1700 Vaquero ABS, Vulcan S, and three Vulcan 900 models. Kawasaki’s current U.S. lineup evidence supports these models, but the available sources do not establish a 2026 Vulcan 1700 Voyager specification. A 2025 Voyager specification sheet is not enough to include it in a 2026 ranking.
