The 2025 Honda Civic Type R has the highest published output in Honda’s U.S. lineup at 315 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Honda’s 3.5-liter V6 applications in the Passport, Odyssey and Ridgeline follow at 280 hp.
This ranking uses Honda’s 2025 U.S. specifications. Hybrid figures are labeled as either gasoline-engine output or total-system output, because those measurements are not interchangeable.

How the ranking works
Entries are ordered by the horsepower figure Honda publishes for each 2025 application. Most figures are gasoline-engine horsepower; the 2025 Accord Hybrid’s 204-hp figure is total-system output and is shown separately from its 146-hp gasoline engine. Honda states SAE net where applicable. Trim availability and specifications can vary, so verify the exact vehicle configuration before buying.

What the numbers mean
The Civic Type R is the horsepower leader
Honda rates the 2025 Civic Type R’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine at 315 hp at 6,500 rpm. That is 115 hp more than the 200-hp Civic Si and 165 hp more than the 150-hp Civic sedan. Honda pairs the Type R engine with a six-speed manual transmission, rev-match control, a limited-slip differential and a four-mode drive system.

“The Civic Type R deploys a 315-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine,” Honda says in its 2025 feature highlights.
The 280-hp V6 is shared by three vehicle types
Honda publishes the same 280-hp rating for the 3.5-liter V6 used in the 2025 Passport SUV, Odyssey minivan and Ridgeline pickup. The Passport and Ridgeline specifications list 262 lb-ft of torque; the cited Odyssey material does not provide a torque figure here. The shared rating does not make these vehicles identical, because gearing, weight, drivetrain layout and body style differ.

Accord Hybrid has three different numbers worth separating
The 2025 Accord Hybrid is listed at 204 hp total-system output. Honda separately lists 146 hp for its 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and 181 hp for the traction motor. The 204-hp system figure is the appropriate headline specification for the complete hybrid powertrain; the 146-hp figure belongs only to the engine. Neither figure should be combined arithmetically with the motor rating.
Civic Si versus the regular Civic sedan
The Civic Si’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 200 hp, while the standard Civic sedan’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder is rated at 150 hp. The Si therefore has a 50-hp advantage in Honda’s published figures. The Si’s torque rating is 192 lb-ft from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm.

Accord and CR-V turbo engines are close
The non-hybrid Accord’s 1.5-liter turbo is rated at 192 hp, only 2 hp above the 190-hp 1.5-liter turbo in CR-V turbo trims. These are separate applications, not one shared horsepower rating: Honda specifies each engine at 6,000 rpm.
Why the hybrid entries appear twice
The Accord appears once for its 204-hp total-system output and again for its 146-hp gasoline-engine output. The CR-V Hybrid appears at 145 hp for its gasoline engine. Showing both types of figures preserves Honda’s published distinctions instead of presenting an electric-motor or system number as if it were an engine-only rating.

What is not ranked
2025 Honda Pilot
Honda’s 2025 Pilot feature-sheet passage confirms a 3.5-liter direct-injection V6 but does not expose a horsepower line in the material used for this ranking. It is therefore not assigned a position. Do not assume the Pilot’s output from another Honda model or from a different model year; verify its official 2025 horsepower specification separately.
How to use this ranking when comparing Hondas
- Maximum published output: choose the Civic Type R’s 315-hp turbocharged four-cylinder.
- 280-hp family vehicles: the Passport, Odyssey and Ridgeline share Honda’s 3.5-liter V6 rating.
- Hybrid comparison: use 204 hp when discussing the complete Accord Hybrid system, and 146 hp when discussing only its gasoline engine.
- Sport-compact comparison: the Civic Si’s 200 hp is substantially above the regular Civic sedan’s 150 hp.
- Compact crossover engines: the CR-V turbo is rated at 190 hp, while the CR-V Hybrid gasoline engine is listed at 145 hp; these are different powertrain configurations and measurements.
Check the exact configuration before purchase
Honda can restrict an engine to particular trims, body styles or drivetrains, and market equipment can change. Confirm the model year, trim, drivetrain and whether the specification is engine-only or total-system output on the vehicle’s current Honda documentation before treating any number as a guarantee for a specific vehicle.
