Florida-based Eve Air Mobility unveiled its first full-scale electric air-taxi prototype at the Farnborough Airshow on July 21, 2024. The company said it had letters of intent for 2,900 aircraft, but that figure represents stated purchase interest—not completed sales, deliveries or aircraft in service. The prototype was a development milestone, not a commercial launch.
What Eve unveiled at Farnborough
Eve Air Mobility, based in Melbourne, Florida, is backed by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. Its full-scale prototype was built at Embraer’s test facility in Gavião Peixoto, in Brazil’s São Paulo state, and unveiled at the 45th Farnborough Airshow.
The aircraft uses a “lift + cruise” layout. Eight dedicated propellers provide vertical lift, while fixed wings support forward flight and a rear pusher propeller provides thrust in cruise. Eve describes the design as fully electric, with no components changing position in flight.
At the unveiling, Eve CEO Johann Bordais called the prototype “a significant milestone that underscores our commitment to safety, accessibility and innovation.”

What “world’s best-selling” means—and does not mean
Eve’s 2024 announcement cited letters of intent for 2,900 eVTOL aircraft. A letter of intent records an expression of purchase interest; the cited announcement does not establish 2,900 binding purchase contracts, completed sales, deliveries or aircraft in service. New Atlas also described the figure as letters of intent and characterized Eve as having the most pre-orders among eVTOL companies at the time, but that reporting does not turn the figure into completed sales.
For that reason, “world’s best-selling” is best understood as headline framing based on reported customer interest, not a verified tally of aircraft sold. The 2,900 figure is from 2024 and should not be read as a current order total. Eve’s unveiling announcement and New Atlas’s 2024 report describe the figure.

Range and seating are design targets, not certified performance
Eve’s product page lists an intended range of 60 miles (100 km) and a piloted configuration with four passengers at entry into service. It says capacity could rise to as many as six passengers after uncrewed flight is certified. These are the company’s design specifications for an aircraft still under development; Eve cautions that the final product may differ.
Those figures do not establish certified commercial range or passenger-flight performance. The cited material does not provide independently verified operating cost, certified range or a like-for-like dataset for ranking Eve against other eVTOL designs. Eve’s product information describes the intended configuration.

Flight-test progress since the unveiling
First uncrewed hover flight
On December 19, 2025, Eve announced that its full-scale, uncrewed prototype had made its first flight at Embraer’s facility in Gavião Peixoto. The company described it as a hover flight that validated integration of key systems, including its fly-by-wire concept and fixed-pitch lift rotors. At that point, Eve expected to expand testing toward wing-borne flight during 2026.
Partial transition flight
On August 3, 2026, Eve reported its first partial transition flight. During the test, the rear pusher propeller was activated while the aircraft was airborne, beginning the shift from vertical lift toward wing-borne flight. Eve reported a flight duration of 3 minutes 9 seconds, travel of approximately 0.84 nautical miles, a maximum height of 90 feet above ground and a maximum ground speed of 30 knots. These are company-reported measurements from that test, not certified operating limits or passenger-service performance.

In a July 20, 2026 update, Eve said Brazil’s ANAC had opened a consultation on updated airworthiness criteria for the Eve 100. The company also said it had applied to EASA to begin Type Certificate validation and was working with the FAA on a concurrent validation process. Those steps indicate ongoing regulatory work; Eve’s update does not say that type certification had been granted.

In its December 2025 first-flight announcement, Eve said it expected type certification, first deliveries and entry into service in 2027. That was the company’s anticipated schedule, not a confirmed delivery date or achieved service milestone. Eve’s regulatory update and first-flight announcement describe the status and stated timing.
