Tiffin lists two 2026 floor plans, the Open Trail 25 AO and 25 CO. “Class B+” is sometimes used as a shopping description for this kind of coach, but Tiffin’s current model page identifies the Open Trail by its chassis and floor-plan names rather than that classification. What kind of RV is the Tiffin Open Trail?
The Open Trail is a motorhome with a coach body built on a Mercedes-Benz 3500XD AWD dual-wheel cutaway chassis. The phrase “Sprinter Class B+” can help describe its general market category, but it is not the classification Tiffin uses on its model page. For shopping, use the exact model names: Open Trail 25 AO and Open Trail 25 CO.

Tiffin identifies two 25-foot floor plans, the 25 AO and 25 CO. The model page names both plans, but the specification details summarized here are for the 25 AO; do not assume its measurements, capacities, or sleeping layout also describe the 25 CO.

Open Trail 25 AO
The MY26 specification sheet lists sleeping capacity of three, two sleeping areas, four seat belts, and seating capacity of four. These figures describe the published model specification, not necessarily the configuration or condition of a particular retail coach.
Open Trail 25 CO
Confirm the 25 CO’s sleeping arrangement, dimensions, capacities, and included equipment in its own floor-plan documentation and the specific coach’s build sheet. Tiffin’s model page establishes that it is a 2026 floor-plan option, but the 25 AO specification sheet should not be used as a substitute for CO-specific figures.

Published ratings are limits, not a statement of how much cargo or trailer weight a particular coach can safely carry. Actual payload depends on the coach’s as-built weight and load; towing must also stay within the applicable vehicle, axle, hitch, tongue-weight, and combined-weight limits. Check the labels and documentation for the exact unit and account for passengers, cargo, water, and any installed options before calculating what remains available.

Use the exterior dimensions to check garage clearance, storage bays, campground access, and routes with height or length restrictions. A listed exterior height is not a guarantee that a particular route is suitable; consider overhead obstacles and the coach’s actual measured configuration.

Water capacity is useful for comparing trip needs, but it does not by itself determine how long you can stay off-grid: consumption, waste-tank use, and the coach’s electrical setup also matter. Since the published black-water capacity is much smaller than the fresh- and grey-water capacities, ask how the intended bathroom use fits your travel pattern.

- Floor plan and occupants: Compare how the 25 AO and 25 CO arrange sleeping and living space, and confirm the seat-belt and sleeping figures for the exact unit.
- Fit and access: Check the coach’s actual dimensions against home storage, intended roads, campsites, and parking.
- Payload and towing: Review the coach’s as-built weight and ratings, then calculate passenger and cargo loads. Treat the 5,000-lb hitch rating as only one limit; observe the 500-lb tongue-weight specification and GCWR.
- Water and power: Match tank capacities and the electrical configuration to how you travel. Confirm generator and other equipment on the build sheet rather than assuming every listed or pictured item is standard.
- Model year and documentation: Make sure the brochure, specifications, and manual correspond to the model year and coach under consideration.
