The 2025 manufacturer announcements and specification pages we could verify support a comparison of six adventure motorcycles that a newer rider might consider, not ten. Published 2025 figures for ten distinct entry-level models are not comparable enough to rank, so this guide covers the six that have stated specifications and prices. Whether a bike “turns heads” is a styling judgment, and this list does not rank looks. Prices and specifications below are 2025 figures and may have changed, so confirm them with a dealer before you buy.
What “entry-level” means in this list
Engine size on its own does not make a bike suitable for a beginner. Two 400cc machines can feel very different if one has a much taller seat or a heavier curb weight. A useful shortlist checks five things:
- Engine displacement and type, which set the power delivery and how much the bike asks of you.
- Seat height, which decides whether you can put your feet down at a stop.
- Curb weight, which matters most when you lift the bike off its stand or push it through soft ground.
- Wheel configuration, which indicates the intended balance between pavement and trail.
- Intended use, as the manufacturer describes it, such as commuting, weekend touring, or occasional off-road riding.
Six 2025 models at a glance
The table uses the figures each maker published. Where a cited 2025 source does not give a value, the cell says so rather than estimating one. The India and US prices are for different markets and are not directly comparable.

Smaller-displacement starting points
These three bikes sit at the lower end of the displacement range in this group. The stated figures suggest they are the most natural starting points for a rider who wants an adventure-styled bike without a large-capacity machine.

Bajaj 250 Adventure (India)
Bajaj Auto’s 5 February 2025 India release gives the 250 Adventure a 250cc engine, an 825 mm seat height and an ex-showroom Delhi price of ₹2,59,850. Among the models here, it has the lowest seat height figure published. The release does not give its wheel setup, curb weight or a detailed terrain description in the material reviewed, so buyers should check those directly. The release also quotes Manik Nangia, President Probiking at Bajaj Auto Ltd., saying “there’s a model for every rider and every journey.” That is promotional company language, not an independent assessment.
KTM 390 Adventure X
KTM North America’s 2025 announcement describes the 390 Adventure X as the more approachable alternative in its range, with a lower seat height than the R, cast wheels, ABS and an LCD dashboard. In India, the Bajaj release lists the X with 19/17-inch cast wheels and an ex-showroom Delhi price of ₹2,91,140. The maker describes the X as road-biased with occasional off-road capability. Its North American price is not stated in the cited material, and its seat height figure is not published there.

- Targeted Protective Design — Injection-molded shin, toe, and heel plates to guard critical areas without bulk.
- Superior Traction — Aggressive anti-slip rubber outsole for confident footing on varied terrain.
- Polyurethane nylon reinforcements
KTM 390 Adventure R
The 390 Adventure R is the more dirt-focused option in the same family. KTM North America describes it with a 21/18-inch wheel split, a new chassis and long-travel suspension. The India-market 390 Adventure, which the Bajaj release describes with 21/17-inch tubeless spoked wheels, a 399cc engine and 46 PS and 39 Nm, is an India configuration and should not be read as a North American specification. The India ex-showroom Delhi price is ₹3,67,699. Long-travel suspension and a larger front wheel usually mean a taller, less forgiving setup for a new rider, so check the seat height in person before deciding between the R and the X.
Road-leaning and commuting-oriented
Honda NX500
Honda’s 2025 US specification page lists a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, a six-speed manual gearbox, a 32.8-inch seat height, a 432-pound curb weight and a 4.7-gallon tank. Honda describes it as an entry-level-friendly compact option for commuting and weekend touring. Its 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast wheels point to a road-oriented setup compared with the 21-inch-front dirt-focused bikes above. The $7,399 base MSRP excludes the $600 destination charge, which brings the displayed total to $7,999. That is a specification-based comparison; it is not a riding assessment.

Larger, touring-oriented machines
The next two bikes are heavier and more capable on highways. They suit riders who plan longer trips from the start, but they are less obviously beginner choices than the models above.
Suzuki V-Strom 650XT Adventure
Suzuki’s 2025 US page lists a $10,999 base MSRP and equipment that includes hand guards, a protective lower engine cowl, spoke-style wheels that accept tubeless tyres and traction control. Suzuki says the handlebar cross-brace provides a foundation for mounting a GPS. That is a mounting-point statement only. It does not confirm compatibility with any particular unit, so check any device with Suzuki or a dealer before fitting it. The page excludes taxes, title, licensing, registration, destination freight, dealer fees and optional equipment from the MSRP. Engine, seat height and weight are not stated in the cited material.
Rank #4
Kawasaki KLR650 Adventure ABS
A 2025 indexed listing gives the KLR650 Adventure ABS a 652cc single-cylinder engine and US base MSRPs of $8,099 or $8,199 depending on trim and colour, plus a $685 destination charge. Kawasaki’s official page could not be checked in full, so seat height, curb weight and wheel details are not established here. Confirm the price and full specifications with a Kawasaki dealer before comparing it with the other models.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Checks before you buy
- Sit on the bike. Published seat heights are a starting point. Your inseam, reach and the way you stand over the bike decide whether the seat works for you.
- Check licensing. Learner, licence and endorsement rules for motorcycles vary by country and by state or region. Confirm what your licence allows before you buy.
- Compare the same price basis. Ex-showroom prices in India, base MSRPs in the US and destination-inclusive totals are different measures. Add taxes, registration and dealer fees to whichever figure you use.
- Confirm stock and incentives. Availability and incentives change, and a model listed in 2025 may not be sold new in your market today.
What the 2025 material does not establish
- It does not show comparable specifications, availability or beginner suitability for ten distinct models, so the list is six.
- It contains no independent performance tests, reliability data or long-term ownership reports, so none of these bikes is ranked on how it rides or lasts.
- It does not include a market statistic about beginner adventure-bike buyers.
- Honda’s 2025 announcement confirms the return of the XR650L dual-sport and the Africa Twin, but it does not present either as an entry-level choice, so neither is included here.
The Bottom Line
There is no single best beginner adventure bike in this group. On the published figures, the Bajaj 250 Adventure has the lowest seat height stated and the smallest engine, and the KTM 390 Adventure X is the more approachable of the two 390s. The Honda NX500 suits road-leaning commuting and weekend touring in the US market. The Suzuki V-Strom 650XT and Kawasaki KLR650 are larger machines to consider when highway or touring use is the priority. Seat fit and local licensing matter more than any single spec.
