It is still in development—not a confirmed production electric car or road-registered quadricycle—and its published figures and intended legal classification remain subject to change.
What is the Elecy?
Amara Automotive describes the Elecy as “A hybrid between an ebike and a car.” The concept has four wheels, an enclosed body and pedals that the company says connect directly to the rear wheels. The design is intended to let a rider pedal even when electric assistance is not operating.
That description distinguishes the Elecy from a conventional electric car, but it does not settle how authorities will classify a final production vehicle. Amara calls it an “Electric Assist Pedal Cycle” for the UK and Europe; that is the manufacturer’s stated intention, not a legal determination for every jurisdiction.
What features and figures has Amara announced?
Amara’s product page lists the following targets and design details. The company says the Elecy is in development and that its stated values may change, so these should not be read as verified production specifications.

How car-like is it in practice?
The enclosure, weather protection, four-wheel layout and claimed 300 L of storage are the clearest elements behind the car-like pitch. Those features could make the concept useful for carrying items in conditions that are less comfortable on an open bicycle, while its stated dimensions describe a vehicle narrower and shorter than many cars. The page does not establish passenger capacity or provide independent evidence of comfort, handling or cargo usability.

The drivetrain remains pedal-oriented: according to Amara, the rider pedals and the motor assists up to the stated cutoff. The page does not publish an independent performance test or enough detail to assess how much effort is needed on hills, in wind or with a full load.
What is known about safety?
Amara lists impact-absorption zones, rollover protection and four-wheel stability as design features and says safety testing is in progress. Its product page does not provide test results, certification details or an independent safety assessment, so these claims should not be treated as proof of crash protection.

Where is the Elecy allowed to be ridden?
Amara says it intends the Elecy for public roads and cycle lanes and characterizes it as an “Electric Assist Pedal Cycle” in the UK and Europe. That statement does not confirm that a final vehicle will qualify for those places in every country or under every local rule. Classification can depend on the finished vehicle’s specifications and the jurisdiction; check the rules that apply where you plan to ride before treating it as road- or cycle-lane legal.

When will it be available, and what will it cost?
The Elecy’s official page says it is currently in development and that its stated values are targets subject to change. Amara says it aims to price the vehicle similarly to existing velomobiles, but gives no confirmed price. The page also establishes neither a production specification nor a sale date; it offers registration for updates rather than a confirmed availability schedule.
