How large are the published total-range differences?
As a simple screening comparison, the R1S Dual Max’s 370-mile guide figure is 140 miles above the Recon Moab’s 230-mile launch estimate and 120 miles above the Recon’s 250-mile late-availability estimate. The Dual Large’s 289-mile figure is 59 miles above the launch estimate and 39 miles above the late-availability figure. Those subtractions compare the published total-range numbers only; they do not show how far either vehicle will travel on a highway, and the figures come from different sources and test bases.

The Dual Large’s 289-mile total range is above the Recon’s 230-mile launch estimate, but below the Recon’s late-availability estimate of up to 250 miles by a smaller margin than the Dual Max. The package-associated reductions are 21 miles for the 2X’s listed maximum and 16 miles for the 3X’s. These differences help describe the choice GMC’s figures present: the package adds specified off-road equipment, while the stated maximum total-range estimate is lower. Range is only one part of off-road suitability
For the HUMMER EV SUV, GMC lists five selectable drive modes. The available Extreme Off-Road Package includes front and rear electronically locking differentials and underbody protection. Those features matter when choosing a configuration for demanding terrain; the range estimates show that the package and its equipment come with lower listed maximum range for both 2X and 3X trims. Jeep’s press release highlights removable doors, swing-gate glass, and rear quarter glass on the Recon, alongside its Trail Rated positioning. It is therefore worth separating two questions when choosing among these vehicles: which published configuration has the larger total-range figure, and which vehicle has the equipment and design features suited to the intended terrain and use? GMC describes at-home Level 1 and Level 2 charging for the HUMMER EV SUV and says up to 300 kW is available through 800V DC fast charging. The “up to” figure describes available peak charging capability, not a promise that a charging session will hold that rate throughout.
