Eight new Corvettes disappeared from a holding lot at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly Plant in March 2025. The first lead described in police reporting came not from a plant inventory alert but from a resident who spotted a suspicious new car; police contacted the plant manager, who then checked inventory and found eight cars missing.
How were eight Corvettes stolen from the Bowling Green plant?
The cars were taken from the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant lot in southern Kentucky. Bowling Green police valued the eight vehicles at $1.2 million, according to The Associated Press. Police said thieves cut a fence to get the cars out. Local television reporting said security video showed all eight leaving together through the opening, though the available accounts do not establish exactly when plant security detected the breach.
Which clues brought the theft to police?
A resident noticed a Corvette without dealer tags
A woman at a Bowling Green apartment complex reported seeing a man park a new Corvette, still bearing its stickers, and walk away. In local follow-up coverage, residents Joevelyn Long and Sue Nalley said they noticed a new Corvette without dealer tags and contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Police then contacted the assembly-plant manager, who checked inventory and reported that eight cars were missing. Long recalled the manager telling her, “They wouldn’t have known anything if we hadn’t made the call.” That is Long’s recollection, not a separately recorded statement from the manager. NewsChannel 5 reported her account.
A transporter questioned a rushed request
A vehicle transporter called police after being asked to move a Corvette to Michigan. When he arrived, he found three new 2025 Corvettes and noticed damage underneath the cars. Bowling Green Police spokesperson Ronnie Ward told NewsChannel 5: “The person that had hired him was in a hurry, and they were trying to rush him along. He thought all of this was suspicious and called police.”

Were the stolen Corvettes recovered?
Yes. AP reported that all eight cars were recovered. Authorities arrested Deantae Walker after a chase, according to AP and contemporaneous reporting by WBKO. NewsChannel 5 reported that two more cars were found at an apartment complex and that investigators believed at least eight people were involved. At the time of those reports, one suspect had been arrested and police were seeking others; those accounts do not establish the case’s later legal status.

Not according to a clarification published by CorvetteBlogger on March 24, 2025. The red ZR1 pictured at the recovery scene was reportedly driven there by a plant employee helping with the recovery, rather than being one of the stolen vehicles. CorvetteBlogger attributed that information to a Chevrolet contact; it was not presented as a written GM statement.
