The eBussy was a German modular electric-vehicle concept announced in 2020, with a camper among its proposed body styles. It was later renamed XBUS, but company-register information reported insolvency proceedings for XBUS GmbH and ElectricBrands AG opening in April 2024. The sources reviewed do not establish that the vehicle or its camper module is currently available to buy.
What was the eBussy?
ElectricBrands presented the eBussy in 2020 as a compact electric light vehicle built around a modular platform. The pitch was that one base vehicle could accept interchangeable bodies for different jobs, rather than being a single-purpose van. The camper was one of several proposed configurations, alongside forms such as a panel van, flatbed, pickup, box body and people carrier. These were announced options, not evidence that customers received interchangeable modules. Electrive’s August 2020 report and electrive.net’s July 2020 report describe the original proposal.
The concept was appealing because it joined two ideas: a small vehicle for urban or light-commercial use, and a body system that could, in theory, turn the same platform into a camper or work vehicle. The central attraction was flexibility; the published figures and configurations remained company-announced plans.
What specifications and range did the company claim?
Contemporary reporting described a platform about 3.65 metres long, a 15 kW electric drive, and modular batteries with proposed installed capacity from 10 to 30 kWh. Electrive reported a company-claimed range spanning 200–800 km across configurations. That unusually broad range was not an independent test result, and the reports do not establish 800 km as a camper range. Battery size, body configuration and load were all relevant to the concept’s proposed use.

- Experience in gluing and painting is required.
- Kit suitable for ages 12 to adult.
- Model number: RV07674
The announcement also cited payload of up to 1,000 kg and seating for up to four people. Those were company claims, not verified results; the cited reporting does not establish that both maximum figures applied to every body version. The numbers should not be treated as confirmed specifications for a production camper.
How did the eBussy become the XBUS?
ElectricBrands publicized the eBussy in July and August 2020 and discussed series production planned for 2021. By June 2021, coverage referred to the project as XBUS and described further production plans. A name change and renewed plans do not establish that a vehicle entered customer service. The June 2021 account is available in AutoEvolution’s project report.

A significant later development came in April 2024. CompanyHouse’s reproduced register notices report that insolvency proceedings for XBUS GmbH and ElectricBrands AG were opened by Darmstadt Local Court, and that the companies were dissolved. CompanyHouse is an aggregator of register information; the underlying individual court notice was not reviewed for this account. See its profiles for XBUS GmbH and ElectricBrands AG.

Availability was not established in the sources reviewed. They do not substantiate a currently purchasable eBussy or XBUS, a camper body module, or model-specific parts. That is different from proving that no vehicle or component exists anywhere; it means there is no supported basis here to treat the concept as a current retail offering.

The figures sometimes repeated alongside the eBussy are launch-era announcements, not current prices or a live order offer. Electrive reported announced starting prices of €15,800 for the basic vehicle and a higher proposed price for the camper. Those historical figures do not establish a current price, production status, delivery date or route to purchase.

What the eBussy story establishes
- It was a concept with a distinctive modular pitch. The camper was one planned body among several, intended to share a base vehicle.
- Its performance and capacity figures were claims. The reported battery, range, payload and seating numbers were company-announced targets, not independently verified production specifications.
- The later XBUS name did not verify delivery. The project’s production plans remained forward-looking in the cited coverage.
- Corporate status changed materially in 2024. CompanyHouse’s reproduced notices report insolvency proceedings for the associated companies, but current vehicle availability is not established by the sources reviewed.
