What the 2019 XV-LTi announcement was about
The title refers to EarthRoamer’s XV-LTi, covered by New Atlas on November 4, 2019. The announcement-era story centered on the carbon-fiber body, rather than establishing a permanent specification sheet for every later LTi build. Its reported engine figures—330 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque—are likewise contemporary figures for that announcement and should not be treated as current specifications across model years.
EarthRoamer’s current LTi page describes the model and its construction. The actual equipment and layout of a vehicle should be checked against its model year and build.
How the carbon-fiber monocoque is made
A monocoque is a body whose shell carries structural loads, instead of relying on a separate internal framework to do that work. EarthRoamer says it uses vacuum infusion to bond two carbon-fiber skins to a structural foam core, forming a one-piece body. The company says it manufactures these bodies at its facility in Dacono, Colorado.

EarthRoamer presents lower weight, greater strength, insulation, and the elimination of a metal support structure as benefits of the design. Those are manufacturer claims: the cited material does not provide a third-party test or a quantified comparison with a conventional motorhome body. It is therefore not possible to state a verified percentage weight saving or strength advantage from these sources.
What the current LTi page says about the vehicle
EarthRoamer’s current LTi page lists a Ford F-550 Lariat 4WD chassis with a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel engine. It also describes the following equipment and living systems:

These details describe the current product page, not necessarily every LTi produced. A dated September 19, 2024 LTi specification sheet also lists tire temperature and pressure monitoring, a front 16,500-pound Warn winch, and 95 gallons of total fuel capacity. Confirm the model year and build before relying on those figures for a particular vehicle.
How its off-grid setup works
The LTi combines solar generation with lithium-ion storage and inverter chargers, allowing onboard electrical equipment to operate away from a plug-in power source. Its water capacity supports travel beyond serviced campgrounds, while the chassis, tires, and recovery equipment are aimed at demanding terrain. The available sources do not establish a single runtime, solar output, driving range, or water-use duration; those depend on configuration, conditions, and how the vehicle is used.

For a serious comparison, look beyond the carbon-fiber body and check the build-specific details that determine capability and usability:
- Construction and serviceability: Ask how the body is repaired and serviced, and what warranty applies to the shell.
- Chassis and payload: Verify the exact chassis, ratings, and payload for the vehicle rather than assuming all builds are identical.
- Range and fuel: Confirm the fuel capacity and expected range for the specific model year and configuration.
- Off-grid capacity: Compare solar and battery specifications, water capacity, and waste-system capacity.
- Layout and recovery equipment: Check sleeping arrangements, tire and beadlock details, monitoring systems, and recovery gear.
- Purchase terms and support: Get current pricing, lead time, service coverage, and support terms directly from EarthRoamer.
Overland Expo’s 2024 coverage gave figures for the LTx, not the LTi: a $798,000 base price, a configured range of $850,000–$900,000, a $100,000 initial deposit, and a typical production time of 12–18 months. Those dated LTx figures are not current LTi pricing or delivery terms. EarthRoamer’s news page lists its models and provides sales contacts for new and PreRoamed vehicles; prospective buyers should request current details for the specific model they are considering.
