The EarthRoamer XV-HD paired a heavy-duty Ford F-750 4×4 chassis with a large, self-contained luxury camper. Its published dimensions and onboard capacities explain the “huge, far and wide” pitch—but the $1.5 million figure belongs to historic coverage, not a current offer. EarthRoamer now says the HD is discontinued; its official model page still displays $1.9 million plus options, which is not a live new-build price.
What made the EarthRoamer XV-HD unusual?
The XV-HD was designed as a complete expedition vehicle rather than a camper meant to be purchased separately. Its foundation was a Ford F-750 4×4 with a 6.7-liter V8 turbo-diesel. EarthRoamer listed 330 horsepower, 725 torque and a 37,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). The manufacturer described the vehicle as built to order and handcrafted in Colorado, with a vacuum-infused carbon-fiber camper body, lithium battery bank, hydraulic leveling and a luxury interior.
That combination put the HD in a different scale category from a typical pickup-based overland camper. The F-750 chassis and stated GVWR are central to understanding the vehicle: this was a large, heavy platform built to carry a substantial living space and its systems, not a compact rig optimized for fitting into ordinary parking spaces or narrow trails.

The listed approach angle is notably steeper than its departure and breakover angles, so those figures should not be read as a blanket promise of trail access. At 35 feet long and 13 feet 2 inches tall, the HD’s overall size also matters: a route can be challenging because of width, height, turning room or weight limits even when a vehicle has meaningful ground clearance. The published specifications do not establish real-world off-road performance on any particular route.

These are manufacturer-listed capacities, not measured trip results. Tank size alone does not establish how long a vehicle can stay away from hookups: consumption, passenger count, weather, power use and replenishment all affect practical autonomy. No verified XV-HD fuel-economy, driving-range or owner-use figures are established here, so the 115-gallon fuel capacity should not be converted into a claimed range.
How much did the XV-HD cost?
The $1.5 million framing comes from historic coverage: it appears in the exact-title New Atlas headline and in period Top Gear coverage. It is best understood as a published price statement from that period, not an independently verified sale price. EarthRoamer’s official HD page currently displays “$1,900,000 plus options,” but that same page says the model has been discontinued. That displayed figure is therefore not a current new-build offer, and the two published prices should not be treated as interchangeable transaction prices.

Is the EarthRoamer HD still available?
No. EarthRoamer’s official HD page states: “The EarthRoamer HD model has been discontinued.” The manufacturer directs interested buyers to its LTi and SX models instead. They are current alternatives from the same company, but they should not be treated as direct equivalents to the HD: the HD’s F-750 platform, 35-foot length and capacities define a particular scale of vehicle, and comparable specifications across all those dimensions are not established here.

EarthRoamer says it sells complete, built-to-order vehicles and does not sell the camper or its components separately. Its FAQ says new vehicles are sold from the Dacono, Colorado factory, that the company does not rent vehicles or offer financing, and that production-position deposits are $100,000 for LTx and $175,000 for SX. Remaining payments are spread across the build; the company advises prospective buyers to contact sales for current lead times. It also directs buyers to its PreRoamed inventory.
