Dust Moto lists 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) at the motor and 660 Nm (485 lb-ft) at the wheel after an 11:1 reduction. Those are preliminary manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
What does 485 lb-ft of torque mean on the Hightail?
Dust Moto’s current product page lists 660 Nm (485 lbf-ft) of wheel torque with an 11:1 reduction, alongside motor torque of 60 Nm (44 lbf-ft). The wheel figure reflects the torque delivered after gearing; it should not be read as the motor itself producing 485 lb-ft. Dust Moto labels the page’s specifications preliminary.
That distinction matters when comparing electric dirt bikes: compare motor torque with motor torque, and wheel torque only when the gearing and measurement basis are also clear. A larger wheel-torque number by itself does not establish how one bike will perform against another.

The range figure is tied to a 25 mph cruise, not a general promise of 40 miles in every riding situation. The available specification does not establish a terrain, rider weight, or test protocol for that estimate. Dust Moto’s page also does not specify a charging setup or conditions alongside the four-hour recharge figure.
Is it American-made, and who is bringing it to market?
Dust Moto describes the Hightail as “Proudly built in America.” That is the company’s own description; it is not an independently audited finding about domestic content.

LiveWire Group announced on May 19, 2026 that it had acquired Dust Moto’s assets. The company said it was advancing the electric dirt bike platform toward production and expected to share more launch information in the second half of 2026. In its July 23, 2026 second-quarter results, LiveWire said it completed the acquisition in May and was continuing to advance the platform toward production. LiveWire CEO Karim Donnez said the acquisition would let the company expand “into off-road,” building on its electric motorcycle work and STACYC history. LiveWire’s acquisition announcement and second-quarter results describe that company-reported status.
Dust Moto’s February 20, 2025 development account described a shift from off-the-shelf validation components to custom motor-gearbox and battery development, with a 250cc-level powertrain target. That is historical development context, not confirmation of final production specifications.

Price, preorder and delivery status
Dust Moto’s product page currently displays a “Pre-Order Now” call to action, but the official material cited here does not establish final retail pricing, current order terms, or a delivery date. LiveWire’s acquisition and production-development updates likewise do not provide those details. Check the live official purchase flow for any current terms before placing an order.
Earlier figures should not be mistaken for current terms. Cycle News reported a 220 lb weight, a $10,950 price, and a late-2025 delivery target in its December 4, 2024 launch coverage. The current Dust Moto page lists 235 lb, and the older price and delivery target are historical rather than evidence of today’s availability.

What to verify before comparing or buying
The Hightail’s listed peak power, range, top speed, weight, battery capacity, and recharge time offer a useful outline, but preliminary manufacturer figures cannot answer how it will perform in a particular riding environment. For a fair comparison with another electric dirt bike, look for comparable measurements and disclosed conditions.
- Separate motor torque from wheel torque, and account for gearing.
- Compare range only when speed, terrain, and test conditions are stated.
- Check whether weight is ready to ride and whether the same convention is used for competing models.
- Compare battery capacity and charging time alongside the charging conditions.
- Confirm suspension travel, wheel sizes, final price, delivery status, and service or dealer access from current product information.
No independent riding test or firsthand rider assessment is established in the sources cited here, so claims about how the Hightail feels on a trail would be premature. Its stated specifications describe an ambitious electric off-road package; real-world performance and final buying details remain unconfirmed.
