Ducati unveiled the Formula 73 on February 12, 2026: a numbered café racer inspired by the 750 Super Sport Desmo, with production limited to 873 motorcycles. Ducati’s US page lists a price of $19,995, while its Canadian page lists $21,995; specifications and equipment can vary by market, and neither price establishes a final on-road cost or local availability.
What the Formula 73 is—and the history behind it
Ducati presents the Formula 73 as a contemporary reinterpretation of the 750 Super Sport Desmo. The company connects that model to the 750 Imola Desmo, which it says Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari rode to victory at the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola. Ducati describes the 750 Super Sport Desmo as its first road-going V-twin equipped with desmodromic valve timing. Those are the manufacturer’s heritage claims.
The Formula 73 carries the connection in its silver and aqua-green bodywork, gold stripe, short fairing and tapered tail. Ducati says the stripe refers to the transparent fuel-check strip on the fiberglass tank of the Imola-era motorcycle. Clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, a single seat and a steel trellis frame complete the café racer presentation.
How exclusive is the production run?
Ducati says it will build 873 Formula 73 motorcycles. Each is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The presentation box also includes period images and sketches from Ducati’s Style Centre. The announced run establishes the planned production limit, not how many remain available or have been sold.

Equipment and named components
Ducati lists electronic rider aids including traction control, Bosch Cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shift and two Riding Modes. The company also specifies a homologated Termignoni silencer, Rizoma billet-aluminum parts, and 17-inch spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires.
The Diablo Rosso IV is the tire family Ducati names for the motorcycle. Before buying replacement tires, confirm the size and specification for the particular bike and market; the model name alone does not establish fitment.

Ducati also describes a Formula 73 gear capsule: an Arai-based full-face helmet and a Dainese-developed leather jacket. Its US page says the set is included with Formula 73 purchases in North America; it does not establish that the items are sold separately.

In its February 12, 2026 announcement, Ducati projected deliveries to European dealerships in spring 2026 and worldwide distribution by the end of summer. Those were launch-time schedule estimates. They do not confirm present inventory at any dealership. For a current purchase decision, ask a local Ducati dealer whether a Formula 73 is available and verify the price, market-specific equipment and terms.
