The Leapmotor B03X makes a strong case for itself as a roomy, practical small electric crossover—but its cabin interface and road manners are less convincing. Two UK launch-drive reviews praised its passenger and luggage space while reporting vague steering, unsettled handling, intrusive assistance systems and sluggish infotainment. Those are early test impressions, not long-term ownership findings.
What is the Leapmotor B03X?
The B03X is a compact electric crossover. Leapmotor calls the same model the A10 in China; its global-debut announcement also provides the vehicle’s dimensions: 4,270 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,635 mm high, with a 2,605 mm wheelbase. Leapmotor’s global-debut announcement
The figures and equipment vary by market, so UK, European and Australian versions should not be treated as interchangeable. For example, the UK press information describes a 53 kWh car with a 237-mile WLTP range, while European and Australian material lists both 39.8 kWh/292 km and 53 kWh/382 km configurations. Those range figures use the specifications stated for their respective markets; they are not directly interchangeable.
How roomy is the B03X inside?
Rear passengers
Space is the B03X’s clearest strength. What Car? says five occupants who are each six feet tall can fit with some room to spare. Leapmotor UK lists 947 mm of rear legroom. These are distinct measures: one is a reviewer’s seating assessment, the other a manufacturer specification. What Car?’s B03X review Leapmotor UK press information

Luggage and flexible storage
Leapmotor UK lists a 405-litre main boot and a separate 105-litre compartment beneath the floor. Counted together, the manufacturer gives 510 litres of seats-up storage. With the rear seats folded, its press information lists 1,605 litres. The underfloor space can be useful for keeping smaller items separate from the main load area, though the published figure does not indicate how much luggage a particular trip will accommodate.
What are the UK range and charging figures?
For the UK press-kit specification, Leapmotor lists a 53 kWh LFP battery, 194 hp, front-wheel drive, a 237-mile WLTP range and maximum DC charging of 133 kW. These are manufacturer figures for that UK configuration, not a guarantee of real-world range or charging speed. Leapmotor UK press information
The charging estimates use different windows and should be kept separate: What Car? estimates about 21 minutes for 10–80%, while Leapmotor lists 16 minutes for 30–80%. The starting and ending charge levels differ, and actual times depend on conditions such as battery temperature and the charger. Neither figure means every charging stop will take that long.

What Car? recorded 5.5 miles per kWh on the trip computer during a warm-weather drive, but its reviewer cautioned that the display can be optimistic. Auto Express also reported a 5.5 mi/kWh average in its initial test in southern Spain, with temperatures up to 35°C and most driving below 60 mph; it noted that typical UK commuting may produce a different result. These are test-drive observations, not a dependable forecast for every driver. What Car?’s B03X review Auto Express’s B03X review
What is it like to drive?
The launch reviews found several rough edges in the B03X’s driving refinement. What Car? describes light steering that feels vague at speed, a front end that reacts slowly and noticeable body lean. Its reviewer also found it difficult to modulate the transition between regenerative and physical braking, making smooth driving harder than expected. The car was quiet at a cruise, and the review praised its cushioned ride over bumps, but the steering and braking behavior undermined that comfort.
Auto Express likewise criticizes the steering and grip, and describes the motorway ride as unsettled. These assessments come from early launch-drive vehicles rather than extended ownership or a standardized comparison test. What Car?’s B03X review Auto Express’s B03X review

Lane assistance may interrupt smooth progress
What Car? reports that lane-keep assistance tugs at the wheel as the car approaches a line, particularly on twisting roads. Reviewer Oliver Young wrote: “I found myself fighting the lane-keep assist whenever the road was even slightly twisty.” Auto Express also raises concerns about driver-assistance behavior. The reviews do not establish a broader safety-system performance rating.
Is the infotainment easy to use?
The reviewers’ main concern is not a lack of features but how much the car asks drivers to do on its touchscreen. What Car? says many functions are routed through the display, with small controls and slow responses. Auto Express describes the 14.6-inch screen as laggy and also criticizes the system’s touchscreen dependence. That can make everyday adjustments feel fiddly, especially while driving.
Leapmotor’s UK press information lists wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Their availability does not resolve the reviews’ complaints about the car’s own interface or the ease of reaching other controls. Leapmotor UK press information

How does it compare with alternatives?
What Car?’s UK comparison gives the B03X a 237-mile quoted range, below the figures it cites for the Renault 4, Kia EV3 and Nissan Leaf. The same review says the B03X offers more rear space than the Renault 4, while describing some rivals’ layouts or ride as more logical or smoother. These are the review’s comparisons, not a universal ranking across all trims and routes. Check the exact local specification before comparing prices or equipment.
| Model | Range cited by What Car? |
|---|---|
| Leapmotor B03X | 237 miles |
| Renault 4 | 250 miles |
| Kia EV3 | 270 miles |
| Nissan Leaf | 280 miles |
When comparing these cars, focus on the things the B03X reviews make most relevant: rear-passenger space and boot flexibility, usable range and charging window, access to controls, steering and ride behavior, and the price and equipment for your market and chosen trim. The figures above are the ones quoted on What Car?’s review page, not a promise that every version of each model has that range. What Car?’s B03X review

Prices elsewhere are different and should not be converted into a UK price comparison. Leapmotor lists a European starting price of €24,900, with orders opened in July 2026. Its Australian launch announcement lists A$29,990 drive-away for Style and A$33,990 for Design LR; that announcement, dated 6 October 2026, said dealerships were expected to receive cars in November. Who should consider it?
The B03X is worth a closer look if passenger room and flexible luggage storage matter more to you than a polished interface or especially composed handling. Its launch reviews describe a quiet cruise and a cushioned response over bumps, but also identify steering, brake blending, lane assistance and touchscreen response as areas to assess in person.
There is no independent crash-test rating, long-term reliability record or named safety-system performance study established in the available material. The What Car? and Auto Express reviews were launch-drive assessments published on 11 September 2026, not evidence of long-term durability. A test drive on the roads you use most is especially valuable if you are sensitive to steering feel or lane-keep intervention.
