Which Ford GT did Doug DeMuro sell?
The car was a first-generation 2006 Ford GT, not the later second-generation model built for the 2017–2022 model years. Cars & Bids described it as finished in Speed Yellow with black accents and an Ebony interior, with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The listing commentary says 75 Speed Yellow cars were among 2,011 Ford GTs built for model year 2006. That production and color figure is attributed here to Cars & Bids, rather than presented as an independently verified Ford statistic.
What happened in the auction?
Cars & Bids records that the auction ended June 8, 2023, at $395,000. The listing identifies the seller as a dealer acting on behalf of the owner. That figure is the platform’s reported result for this particular transaction on that date—not a current asking price or an estimate of what a comparable car is worth now.

The listing also notes modifications and says the included Carfax report showed no accidents or mileage inconsistencies. Those are representations in the listing; they do not amount to an independent mechanical inspection, a guarantee of present condition, or a substitute for reviewing the vehicle’s records yourself.
Why does DeMuro favor the older GT?
In the auction’s “Doug’s Take,” DeMuro wrote: “I absolutely LOVE the Ford GT – I’ve owned one for years, and I’ve had an amazing time with it.” That is a personal statement about a car he owned, not an independent assessment of every Ford GT.

In a later interview, DeMuro said he preferred the older GT to the newer generation, describing the newer car as more compromised and more complex to service. Those remarks explain his preferences; they should not be read as a technical reliability finding or a complete comparison of the two generations. In another recorded discussion, he said he would not trade his GT for a Ferrari 550 or 575. That, too, is a statement of personal taste, not a judgment about market value or which car is right for another buyer. A single auction result cannot tell you what a different GT is worth. Compare the details that can materially distinguish one car from another:

- Mileage and condition: Treat odometer readings as one part of the picture; inspect the car and assess its current condition.
- Title and history records: Review documentation directly and resolve inconsistencies rather than relying on a listing summary.
- Original equipment and modifications: Identify what has changed, and ask for records covering the work and parts.
- Sale date and result: Compare completed transactions with their dates and vehicle details. A past result is not a present-day valuation.
