Yes—Uber offers eligible U.S. drivers a one-time $4,000 Go Electric incentive, but it is conditional, subject to available funding, and not guaranteed for every driver. Apply and wait for eligibility confirmation before adding or switching to an eligible electric vehicle on your Uber profile; then complete 100 qualifying rides in that vehicle by December 31, 2026. Your account’s live offer controls the exact rules.
Who can qualify for Uber’s $4,000 EV incentive?
Uber’s current driver page identifies Platinum and Diamond Uber Pro drivers as eligible groups. It also says drivers who already have—or have ever had—an EV on their Uber profile are not eligible. Some localized offers add requirements, such as a recent-trip threshold, so check the offer shown in your account rather than assuming every market uses identical criteria. Uber’s driver offer and terms are the controlling place to verify your eligibility.
The offer requires a personally owned or leased qualifying EV. A rental EV does not count. Uber’s main terms describe qualifying vehicles as battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) or fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), and exclude hybrids and plug-in hybrids. A separate localized offer page limits eligibility to BEVs and excludes FCEVs; follow the vehicle definition in your own offer. Localized offer terms
What do you need to do to receive the payment?
- Apply before changing your vehicle profile. Do not add or switch to the EV on your Uber driver profile before applying. Uber says eligibility confirmation may take up to three weeks on a specific offer page, so allow time and wait for confirmation before making the profile change.
- Add the qualifying vehicle after confirmation. The EV must be personally owned or leased and added to your driver profile after Uber confirms eligibility. Rental vehicles do not qualify.
- Complete 100 qualifying rides by December 31, 2026. The rides must be completed on Uber in the qualifying EV. Trips may not start counting until enrollment is confirmed.
- Wait for payment processing. Uber says payment is typically processed within 15 days after you meet the requirements. The terms allow Uber to change requirements and disqualify drivers or vehicles that do not meet them.
Qualifying rides are rideshare trips—not Uber Eats, Uber Connect, delivery trips, canceled rides, or trips made in another vehicle. Confirm the exact terms and whether funds remain before committing to a purchase or lease; the incentive is limited and may be unavailable once funding is exhausted.

Did Uber’s offer expand nationwide?
Uber’s October 22, 2025 announcement introduced Go Electric grants in New York City, California, Colorado, and Massachusetts, and said new and used EVs could qualify. Uber’s 2026 Governance Strategy and Engagement Report says the U.S. offer expanded nationwide in 2026. That expansion does not make every driver eligible or guarantee funds remain; the offer attached to your account is the relevant guide. Is the $4,000 grant the same as Uber’s TrueCar offer?
No. Uber’s October 2025 announcement described a separate $1,000 offer for drivers who purchased an EV through TrueCar. The reviewed Go Electric grant terms do not require a TrueCar purchase. The announcement does not establish that the separate TrueCar offer remains active for every driver, so verify its current availability and conditions before relying on it.

What should you consider about charging before switching?
Uber’s 2026 report says faster, more reliable charging is the top concern for drivers considering an EV. Uber describes an in-app map showing nearby charging locations, connector types, prices, and real-time availability, along with selected operator initiatives and discounts. These features do not establish that every driver has convenient charging or qualifies for a discount; charging costs vary by location, vehicle, and use.
A home Level 2 charger may be an option, but it is not required by the incentive. Whether installation is practical depends on the vehicle, your home’s electrical service, installation needs, and local circumstances. Check compatibility and installation requirements before choosing equipment.
