Alpincamper’s 2024 Ford Transit Courier conversion beats the Ford Transit Custom Nugget on one clear measure: it packages basic two-person camping gear into a shorter van. That is a footprint advantage, not proof of better overall camping efficiency, lower fuel use, or greater value. The Courier build is compact, but its galley has no sink and the available report does not establish current sales or pricing.
What is the Ford Transit Courier micro-camper?
It is a reported 2024 conversion by Alpincamper, built around Ford’s small Transit Courier van. New Atlas described it as a two-person layout with a sofa bench that slides toward the galley to form a double bed reaching the front seat backs. The design makes a small van work for overnight trips, but it is not a full-featured kitchen or a like-for-like alternative to every Nugget configuration.
Sleeping and galley layout
The galley sits across the aisle from the bench. Reported equipment includes a portable single-burner camping stove, an extendable worktop, shelves and a Dometic drawer fridge beneath the bench. There is no sink. The source does not identify a stove make or model.
Insulation, heating and power
New Atlas also reports sound-deadening insulation and felt lining, a pop-open passenger-side window hatch, roof-hatch ventilation and a Webasto air heater with a multi-control panel. The listed electrical setup includes a leisure battery, an 80-W solar panel and a 220-V shore-power connection and outlet. Battery capacity, off-grid duration and independent performance testing are not stated.

Does the Transit Courier camper really beat the Ford Nugget?
Only if “beat” means a smaller exterior footprint for a two-person micro-camper. New Atlas reported the Courier at 434 cm (171 in) long, compared with 442 cm (174 in) for the Transit Connect and 450 cm (177 in) for the Volkswagen Caddy. That supports a compactness comparison; it does not establish a measured efficiency advantage over the Nugget.
The same New Atlas report says the latest Courier has 180 cm (71 in) of cargo-area length, 18 cm (7 in) more than its predecessor, and 25% more cargo volume than that predecessor, at 2.9 cubic metres (102 cubic feet). Those comparisons are with the previous Courier, not the Nugget. It also attributes potential fuel economy of more than 40 mpg under WLTP to the 99-hp, 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. That is a reported vehicle figure, not a camper-specific test or a controlled comparison with a Nugget.

What does the Nugget offer instead?
Ford’s August 22, 2024 announcement described a Transit Custom Nugget range with standard and longer-wheelbase versions. The longer version adds kitchen and storage space; Ford also described an optional built-in toilet layout, an integrated hob and sink, a hot-water boiler, a drawer fridge and wider beds. Plug-in-hybrid and all-wheel-drive options were included in the announced range.
Ford Germany’s product page, accessed October 8, 2026, describes a two-burner hob with sink, a 33-litre drawer fridge and a rear shower supplied by an integrated boiler. It lists a rear bench that converts to a 1,200 × 1,900 mm sleeping surface. In the longer-wheelbase layout, the page describes a larger kitchen and a 53-litre fresh-water tank. These details apply to the configurations on that German-market page; equipment and availability can vary by version and market.

Choose the Courier concept if minimizing vehicle length and keeping the layout simple matter more than having a built-in sink and larger water system. The Nugget’s described kitchen and water equipment better suit trips where those facilities are important. The available sources do not provide comparable real-world camper fuel-consumption results, prices or a current, market-by-market availability comparison, so they cannot settle a broader efficiency or value contest.
