The ABT RS3-R gives the Audi RS 3 more power, but the available tests do not show that it beats the BMW M2. The comparisons on record pit standard Audi RS 3 variants against M2s—not the tuned RS3-R—and the results change with the test, track and performance measure. One 2025 test found the Audi quicker to 100 km/h, while the BMW was faster to 200 km/h and around the circuit.
What the RS3-R is—and which version you mean
The RS3-R is an Audi RS 3 modified by tuner ABT Sportsline, not an Audi factory trim. Its specifications depend on the edition: ABT’s 2022 limited run and its newer facelift product page describe different versions.
The 2022 limited edition
ABT said its 2022 RS3-R produced 500 hp (368 kW) and 600 Nm, and claimed a 0–100 km/h time of 3.3 seconds. ABT described the standard RS 3’s corresponding time as 3.8 seconds. ABT’s 2022 release says the Power R upgrade combined an engine control unit with an ABT intercooler. It also lists suspension springs, sport stabilizer bars, aerodynamic additions, forged wheels and exhaust changes. Those details describe ABT’s package; they do not establish how the RS3-R performs against an M2.

The newer facelift version
ABT’s current RS3-R product page lists 510 hp and 600 Nm for a newer facelift version. That is distinct from the 2022 car’s 500 hp specification; the older edition’s 200-car production limit should not be applied to the newer version without edition-specific confirmation. What happened when an RS 3 faced an M2
AUTO BILD published a comparison on 30 June 2025 between an Audi RS 3 Sportback and a BMW M2 Coupé at the 3.8 km Contidrom handling circuit. The test cars wore different tires: Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R on the Audi and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 on the BMW. In AUTO BILD’s account, the Audi was easier to drive quickly, while the rear-wheel-drive M2 rewarded more driver input on track. The result illustrates why “faster” needs a measure: the RS 3 launched ahead in this test, but the M2 had the lower 0–200 km/h time and quicker lap.
A separate 2026 comparison points the same way at speed and on track
In a report published 17 September 2026, BMWBLOG summarized a sport auto test at Hockenheim between a standard rear-wheel-drive BMW M2 and an Audi RS 3 Competition Limited. BMWBLOG reported that both cars reached 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, the M2 lapped two seconds faster, and the BMW held a substantial advantage by 250 km/h. This is secondary reporting of a different test—not an RS3-R comparison—and the Competition Limited is not the ABT-tuned RS3-R. BMWBLOG’s report on the Hockenheim test

So, does the RS3-R make the M2’s nightmare worse?
ABT’s extra power makes the RS3-R a more potent RS 3 on paper, but there is no cited instrumented test directly comparing an RS3-R with a BMW M2. The 2025 Contidrom test and the 2026 Hockenheim report concern different Audi versions, tracks and setups; neither proves that the ABT car is quicker overall.
The defensible answer is narrower: in one 2025 test, an RS 3 beat an M2 to 100 km/h, while the BMW was quicker to 200 km/h and around the circuit. The later Hockenheim report likewise gives the M2 the lap-time advantage over a different RS 3 edition. Those results make the RS 3 a credible rival, but they do not establish the RS3-R as an M2-beater. A meaningful head-to-head would need the exact RS3-R and M2 editions, matched conditions and a clearly stated measure—acceleration, top-end pace or lap time.
