The available evidence does not verify four Cadillac, Kia, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz flagships that each originally cost about $55,000 and now sell used for less than $30,000. It does support a narrower point: some recent luxury midsize cars are listed in the under-$30,000 range, but a category ranking and broad depreciation statistics cannot establish the history or current sale price of four unidentified cars.
What the under-$30,000 evidence actually shows
iSeeCars’ 2026 ranking of used luxury midsize cars under $30,000 names the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as its top vehicle in the category and also lists the Volvo S90 among the vehicles considered. The analysis covers vehicles one to six years old in a $25,000–$30,000 price band. That is useful evidence that shoppers can find some recent luxury midsize models in that price range; it does not establish that either model is one of the four cars implied by the headline, or that a particular example has sold for less than $30,000.
See iSeeCars’ 2026 used luxury midsize cars under $30,000 ranking for the named models and category details.
Why the $55,000-to-under-$30,000 claim is unproven
To substantiate that kind of price-drop claim, each vehicle needs to be identified by model year and trim, then its original price and current used-market price need to be compared on a consistent basis. The available sources do not identify the four models or provide matched original and current prices for them.

Price measures also differ. An original MSRP is not necessarily what a buyer paid new; a current asking price is not a completed-sale price; and a brand-wide average transaction price is not the original price of a specific used car. Combining those figures would make the comparison appear more precise than the evidence allows.
What the broader price and depreciation figures mean
Used-car depreciation study
iSeeCars says its value-retention study analyzed more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold from March 2025 to February 2026. The surfaced findings include model-specific results, such as one for the Kia Niro EV. Those results apply to the named models and study period, not to an unidentified Cadillac, Kia, Volvo or Mercedes-Benz flagship. The study is available at iSeeCars’ car value-retention analysis.
