Interesting Engineering reported that a Bugatti Bolide reached 186 mph (300 km/h) on the short main straight of the Nürburgring Grand Prix course during hot laps. That is a reported speed at one point on a track—not the car’s top speed. Bugatti lists the Bolide’s maximum speed as 380 km/h (236 mph).
What the video report says
In a May 7, 2025 report, Interesting Engineering described passenger Misha Charoudin riding in the Bolide as it completed hot laps on the Nürburgring GP course. The article says the car reached 186 mph at the end of the short main straight, passed Porsche GT cars, and accelerated past a McLaren.

Those are the report’s descriptions of the video, not a certified speed record or a controlled comparison. The report does not establish the exact Porsche and McLaren models, a measured head-to-head result, or official Bolide lap times. A brief straight-line pass also cannot establish that another car is slower around a full lap.

Bugatti’s January 2025 specification sheet lists the Bolide’s top speed at 380 km/h (236 mph), with 0–300 km/h (186 mph) acceleration in 11.5 seconds. The 186 mph reported at the Nürburgring is therefore a speed the car reached during that described run, while 236 mph is the manufacturer’s stated maximum speed.

What the production specifications mean
Bugatti lists 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of maximum torque, along with a seven-speed DSG transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. Its stated mass is 1,450 kg, explicitly qualified as a theoretical dry weight; it should not be treated as a measured ready-to-run weight.
The Bolide is a racing vehicle, not a road car. Bugatti says it is not intended for public roads, so its track performance should not be framed as an ordinary road-car comparison with a McLaren or Porsche.

Why older Bolide numbers are different
Bugatti’s December 2020 concept announcement discussed output of up to 1,850 PS and a simulated Nürburgring Nordschleife lap of 5:23.1. Those are concept-era claims, not production-sheet specifications or proof of a completed lap. The concept release labels the lap as simulated and attaches qualifications to its fuel and theoretical-weight figures, so those numbers should not be combined with the 2025 production specifications.
