Not anymore. Tesla’s original Master Plan and its three later plans are listed on the company’s official Master Plans page. But in August 2024, news reports documented that Tesla had removed its pre-2019 blog posts, including the original plan and Part Deux. The available sources do not establish why the posts were removed or when the plans returned to Tesla’s site.
Can you still read Tesla’s original Master Plan?
Yes. Tesla’s current official index lists the original Master Plan, Part Deux, Part 3 and Part 4. The original document was a 2006 blog post by then-chairman Elon Musk, according to Tesla’s 2024 proxy statement. Open Tesla’s Master Plans page to find the company’s current listings.
If you are looking for the historical blog post rather than Tesla’s current index, Electrek reported in August 2024 that removed articles could be found through the Internet Archive. That is an archival fallback; Tesla’s own page is the direct source for the plans currently listed.
What happened to the plans in 2024?
On August 24, 2024, Electrek reported that Tesla had deleted all pre-2019 posts from its blog. Its report included the original Master Plan among the affected posts. Four days later, Fortune reported that the first two plans were no longer available through Tesla’s blog and that a link to the original redirected to the blog page. Those reports describe the site’s status at the time, not its current status.

#1 Best Overall
Tesla’s current index includes all four plans, but the reviewed sources do not establish the exact date they returned or explain the removal. There is no documented basis here for attributing it to a change in strategy, climate messaging or a legal dispute.
What did Musk’s 2006 plan propose?
The plan described a staged approach: start with an expensive sports car, use the proceeds to build a more affordable car, then use that money to build an even more affordable car, while also offering zero-emission electric-power generation options. That sequence is Tesla’s summary in its 2024 proxy statement, which describes the original plan as a roadmap published by Musk in 2006.
Rank #2
Musk framed the broader aim as moving away from a “mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy” toward a “solar electric economy.” Fortune reproduced this sentence from the original plan: “The overarching purpose of Tesla Motors (and the reason I am funding the company) is to help expedite the move from a mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution.”

Tesla’s proxy statement dates Master Plan, Part Deux to July 2016. The current official index also lists Parts 3 and 4, but the sources cited here do not establish their exact publication dates. The central issue behind the 2024 reports was therefore not that Tesla had permanently withdrawn its plans: the posts were reported missing from the blog then, while the plans are listed by Tesla now.
