What did Stellantis confirm about McKinsey?
On 8 April 2025, Bloomberg reported that Stellantis had hired McKinsey for strategic advice involving Maserati and Alfa Romeo as U.S. tariff pressure increased. Stellantis’ spokesperson confirmed a narrower assignment: McKinsey had been asked to provide its considerations on recently announced U.S. tariffs affecting the two brands, and the company declined further comment. Bloomberg Línea’s account of the report attributed the broader details to unnamed people familiar with the matter.
Those sources said chairman John Elkann had asked McKinsey to evaluate options, including partnerships to gain access to new technology, and described a Maserati separation as a possible long-term scenario. That is reporting about possibilities under consideration—not an announced transaction, a confirmed recommendation from McKinsey, or proof that Stellantis decided to separate the brands.
Is Maserati being sold or separated from Stellantis?
The cited reporting does not establish that Maserati was sold, that a sale was approved, or that the company selected a buyer or partner. A possible long-term separation appeared in the Bloomberg report as a scenario attributed to unnamed sources. Stellantis’ spokesperson did not confirm that detail.

On 26 February 2026, an analyst asked CEO Antonio Filosa whether Maserati would remain in the group after a strategic brand-portfolio review. Filosa said details on Maserati and the wider portfolio would be presented at Investor Day; he did not confirm a sale, separation, or retention decision in that answer. Stellantis’ investor events and presentations provide the company’s public materials.
What is Stellantis’ current plan for Maserati?
In its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, announced on 21 May 2026, Stellantis said it planned to strengthen Maserati as a luxury brand with two new E-segment vehicles. It said a detailed Maserati roadmap would be presented in Modena in December 2026. That date was still in the future as of 8 October 2026, so the roadmap’s contents and whether it was subsequently published are not established here. The strategy announcement does not say that the Maserati plan came from McKinsey’s work.

Stellantis described four global brands with the greatest scale and profitability potential, five regional brands including Alfa Romeo, and specialty-brand arrangements for DS and Lancia. What will happen to Alfa Romeo and its cars?
Alfa Romeo’s 25 May 2026 statement said Giulia and Stelvio would remain in production until 2027, including Quadrifoglio versions. It described Junior as a volume driver, Tonale as a key global model, and the 33 Stradale as a halo car. The statement also outlined planned new models and a study of future D-segment cars.

- Whether Stellantis will make any ownership change involving Maserati.
