According to Chris Rock, Adam Sandler gave him and his Grown Ups co-stars new Maseratis after the film’s success. A November 2010 report named Rock, David Spade, Kevin James and Rob Schneider as recipients. The account comes from Rock’s interview on The Howard Stern Show; the sources reviewed do not include direct confirmation from Sandler.
What Chris Rock said about the Maserati
Rock discussed the gift on The Howard Stern Show on November 8, 2010, while promoting the DVD release of Grown Ups. Asked about backend points, Rock said he did not know whether he had them, then described receiving a new Maserati. The show’s rundown quotes him saying: “He gave all of us cars … I bullshit you not, Howard.” The Howard Stern Show rundown also characterizes the car as one Sandler sent Rock after the film became an international success.
Who reportedly received a car?
A contemporaneous Irish Independent report named four recipients: Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James and Rob Schneider. The report attributes the story to Rock’s Stern interview, rather than presenting separate statements from each actor. The Irish Independent’s November 10, 2010 report describes the cars as Maseratis.
What is known—and what is not
