Is the pop-up-roof Globebus Performance 4×4 available to buy?
Not as a confirmed production configuration in the current information published by Dethleffs. A Caravan Salon 2025 event-video listing describes a four-berth T 46 “with pop-up roof (study)” or sleeping roof. That supports saying the study was shown as described; it does not establish that buyers can order it, have one retrofitted, or obtain any particular specifications or price. Dethleffs’ current model page lists the T 16 and T 46 without confirming a pop-up-roof option. Check directly with Dethleffs or an authorized dealer for current status.

The production model itself is a separate matter. Dethleffs introduced the Globebus Performance 4×4 at Caravan Salon 2024 as its first all-wheel-drive motorhome, describing the displayed vehicle as a production-ready prototype and saying the production version could be ordered. Its current range is built on the VW Crafter 4Motion platform.
What are the production T 16 and T 46 like?
Both layouts use a 2.0-litre TDI rated at 120 kW (163 hp), an 8-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and a differential lock. Dethleffs also lists raised ride height and a reinforced front axle. Rear air suspension is standard on the T 46 and optional on the T 16. The figures below come from Dethleffs’ model-year 2026 international price list; equipment and vehicle weights can vary with options.

Choosing between the layouts
The T 16 is 60 cm shorter and has a lower maximum technically permissible laden mass. The T 46 is longer and includes rear air suspension as standard, while that suspension is optional on the T 16. Both are listed with two standard berths and up to three. Compare the floorplan and bed arrangement that suits your travel, then check the exact vehicle’s permitted mass and remaining payload after options and equipment are added. The mass figure is a limit, not a statement of the payload available in a particular finished vehicle.
What self-sufficiency equipment does it have?
Dethleffs’ launch article describes a diesel heater, electric compressor refrigerator, lithium-ion battery pack and Clesana C1 waterless toilet as part of the motorhome’s self-sufficiency equipment. The same article identifies a Grünbeck water filtration system, while the current model page describes that filter as optional. Confirm the equipment list and standard-versus-optional status for the specific model year and vehicle rather than assuming launch specifications apply to every current example.

Dethleffs positions the Globebus Performance 4×4 for occasional travel on unpaved roads, gravel, sandy approaches and snowy inclines. The listed all-wheel drive, raised ride height and differential lock are the features behind that positioning. The available specifications do not provide an independent assessment of difficult-trail ability or ground-clearance measurements, so the vehicle should not be treated as proven for demanding trails or equated with a purpose-built expedition truck.

For a buying decision, consider the routes you actually intend to drive and ask a dealer about the exact vehicle’s clearances, tires, payload and operating limits. The manufacturer’s off-pavement positioning is not a substitute for those vehicle-specific details.
