The Depancel Serie-R Cruiser is a square-shaped, motorsport-inspired automatic watch with a Miyota 9132 movement, date, day/night 24-hour display and power-reserve indicator. The official Dark Green listing is €750 at the time of writing; its dimensions are reported differently by the maker and watch publications, so check which measurement is being quoted before judging fit.
Automotive design, not a riding instrument
Depancel frames the Serie-R Cruiser around café-racer culture and automotive design. The maker says the case draws inspiration from a radiator grille, while the dial’s vertical indicators are styled as a fuel gauge and a dusk/dawn display. These are design cues, not functional motorcycle or racing instruments. The official product page describes the brand’s aim as “put beautiful mechanics on the maximum number of wrists”—a vendor statement, not an independent assessment. Fergus Nash’s hands-on report for Time+Tide covered a Petrol Blue sample. He noted a sandblasted upper-case texture, Geneva striping on the dial intended to evoke a radiator, applied lume-filled indices, a date window and the two vertically arranged indicators. Movement and dial functions
The watch uses an automatic Miyota 9132. Its listed power reserve is 40 hours, and the functions are hours, minutes, seconds, date, a 24-hour day/night display and a power-reserve indication. Monochrome reports 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a rated accuracy of −10/+30 seconds per day; that accuracy is a published specification, not a measurement of an individual watch. The 24-hour display is not a second time zone

How large does the Serie-R Cruiser wear?
The measurements are not presented consistently across the maker’s listing and published coverage. Depancel currently lists a 43 × 36 mm case and 12.95 mm thickness, but the opened specification text does not identify the 43 mm figure as lug-to-lug. Time+Tide gives a 36 mm width and 42 mm lug-to-lug; Monochrome lists 42 × 36 mm. Treat those as source-specific figures rather than silently comparing them as if they use identical measurement conventions.

Because the case is square-shaped, width alone does not tell the whole fit story. Nash’s report that it wore smaller than its appearance suggested is a useful impression, but it should not replace comparing the watch’s measurements with a watch you already find comfortable.
Materials, water resistance and strap fit
Depancel specifies a 316L stainless-steel case with sandblasted, brushed and polished surfaces, sapphire crystal over the dial and a mineral-glass caseback. The maker lists water resistance at 50 m / 5 ATM and specifies a non-screw-down crown. This rating does not make the Cruiser a dive watch; follow the maker’s instructions for use and care rather than treating the depth figure as a promise for every water activity. The official lug width is 22 mm, the key measurement for finding a 22 mm watch strap. The listed strap is calfskin leather in black or brown, with steel pin-buckle or deployant-buckle options. Before buying a replacement, confirm the strap’s attachment is compatible with the watch and choose a buckle arrangement that suits your preference; the lug width alone does not establish buckle compatibility.

At the time of the reviewed official listing, the Dark Green version was priced at €750. Tax treatment depends on the market, and price and stock can change. Time+Tide and Monochrome reported €695 as the launch price in November 2022, which is historical rather than the current listed price. The pages describe Petrol Blue, Dark Green and Shadow Black variants; the reviewed official listing was for Dark Green, so availability of other colors should be checked directly. No movement or construction differences between colors are established by these sources.

Depancel lists a five-year warranty. Its product page says coverage applies to manufacturing defects during normal use and excludes matters including loss, normal wear, misuse, accidents and unauthorized maintenance. Confirm the terms that apply in your region at purchase.
