What happened at DENSO?
In its April 30, 2026 notice, DENSO said it had identified unauthorized access to networks at group-company sites in Italy and Morocco. It said the access was recognized on March 28. The company established an emergency response structure, took measures on the affected networks and engaged outside cybersecurity specialists.
Was customer or other data stolen?
DENSO said it could not rule out unlawful extraction of some information concerning the company and external parties. The notice does not confirm that extraction occurred, identify the kinds of information involved or say how many people or organizations may be affected. It does not establish that sensitive personal data was exposed.
DENSO said it was informing affected parties sequentially and had reported the matter to relevant authorities. The notice does not give a notification count or provide a final investigation result.

Did the incident disrupt vehicle-parts production or deliveries?
As of its April 30 notice, DENSO said “no significant impact has been confirmed” on production or product deliveries to customers. That is the company’s assessment at the time of publication; the notice does not establish what the eventual operational impact, if any, was.
Who was behind the cyberattack?
DENSO’s notice describes unauthorized access but does not name an attacker or identify the event as ransomware. A Kaspersky ICS CERT Q2 2026 overview later characterized the incident as ransomware and listed Qilin. Those details are Kaspersky’s reporting, not an attribution made in DENSO’s notice.

How does this differ from DENSO’s earlier ransomware incident?
DENSO’s September 2025 offering circular describes a separate ransomware attack in March 2022 on DENSO Automotive Deutschland GmbH in Germany, and says that earlier incident did not materially affect business operations. The reviewed sources do not connect that German subsidiary incident to the 2026 access at sites in Italy and Morocco.
