John Deere introduced the gas-powered Gator XUV 845 and diesel-powered XUV 875 in July 2024 as updated full-size crossover utility vehicles. The refresh centered on a wider, configurable cargo box, revised intake and CVT airflow, and comfort and convenience changes. Deere said the new box has 13% more space than the previous models, a comparison reported by Agriculture.com in its July 8, 2024 launch coverage.
What Deere announced
Deere’s July 2024 announcement covered two full-size crossover Gators: the XUV 845, which runs on gasoline, and the XUV 875, which is diesel-powered. The company’s July 2, 2024 video introducing the redesigned XUV identifies both models. Deere positioned them for farm and ranch utility work, with options for integrated precision-agriculture technology.
Eric Halfman, Deere’s go-to-market manager for Gator utility vehicles, described them as “built with farmers for farmers,” as quoted in the launch report. The announcement is historical, not a new 2026 launch. Deere’s current US Gator family page continues to provide model-family information, but current model-year equipment and availability should be checked separately.
What changed on the XUV 845 and XUV 875?
A larger, configurable cargo box
Agriculture.com reported Deere’s claim that the redesigned cargo box provides 13% more space than the previous models. That is the manufacturer’s comparison as reported in 2024, not an independent measurement. The box is wider, includes divider slots, and has a 12V SAE power port for compatible accessories such as small tank sprayers and rear-mounted spreaders.

Revised intake and CVT airflow
The launch coverage describes a higher air intake and revised continuously variable transmission (CVT) intake and exhaust. Deere’s stated design intent was to draw cleaner air and help protect the system from debris, water, and mud. Those design changes should not be read as proof of field performance under particular conditions.
Sound, comfort, and convenience
The announcement coverage also describes an exhaust-system change intended to improve sound quality, alongside added comfort and convenience features. Which features a buyer receives depends on the selected configuration; the launch report does not establish a single equipment list for every 845 or 875.

Precision-agriculture options
According to the 2024 launch report, HVAC-equipped versions could be configured with factory-installed GreenStar Ready options. Treat this as launch-era information, not a guarantee of present-day availability: confirm the model year, required equipment, and option availability with a Deere dealer.
How to compare the XUV 845 and XUV 875 for a job
The defining distinction in the announcement is fuel type. The 845 is gas-powered; the 875 is diesel-powered. Neither is universally the better choice based on the information available here. Compare actual vehicles and quotes against the work they need to do:

- Fuel preference: Decide whether gasoline or diesel best fits your existing equipment, fueling routine, and operating preferences.
- Cab and HVAC: Check the cab and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment on the exact vehicle, particularly if considering GreenStar Ready options.

Deere’s US full-size crossover page lists up to 4,000 lb of towing capacity as a manufacturer-published maximum for the family. It is not a guarantee for every 845 or 875 configuration; Deere says specifications and availability can vary, so check the selected vehicle’s ratings with a dealer.

If you are checking accessories, Deere’s model-year 2026 attachment document lists cargo box mat BUC11333 for XUV 845 and 875 models. Confirm fitment for the specific vehicle with Deere or a dealer before ordering.
The Gator GX Electric is a separate model, not an electric version of the XUV 845 or 875 announced in 2024. Its specifications should not be used to describe the XUV crossover models.
