The De Tomaso P900’s announced final engine specification is a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 developed by ItalTecnica for track use. De Tomaso says it produces 900 hp at approximately 9,500 rpm and has a 10,200-rpm redline. Those figures come from the company’s February 24, 2026 announcement, not an independent test.
What engine is in the De Tomaso P900?
De Tomaso’s February 24, 2026 announcement identifies a 7.0-liter, 65-degree naturally aspirated V12 as the P900’s final engine specification. How high does the P900 V12 rev?
De Tomaso lists a 10,200-rpm redline and says the engine makes its claimed 900 hp at approximately 9,500 rpm. The peak-power speed and redline are different figures: the company’s specification places maximum stated power below the listed rev limit. The earlier 12,300-rpm figure belongs to a different, launch-era description and should not be applied to this final specification.

Why do older P900 engine figures differ?
Earlier descriptions gave the P900 a 6.2-liter V12. Quattroruote’s 2022 launch-era report described a 60-degree engine rated at 900 CV and a maximum of 12,300 rpm. A 2026 SEC filing also describes a 6.2-liter V12. These older or conflicting references do not match De Tomaso’s February 2026 announcement, which explicitly calls the 7.0-liter engine the final specification. Is the P900 V12 road legal?
The announced engine is configured exclusively for track use. De Tomaso has said a road-going evolution could be a matter of timing, but that statement does not confirm a road-going P900, its specification, or a launch schedule. De Tomaso Automobili
