The report documented individual accounts, not a delivery audit: it did not establish how often this happened or whether the complaints reflected a wider pattern.
What Cybertruck owners said they found
Futurism’s report described several owners’ accounts of dirty vehicles at delivery. One owner said the cabin had dirty handprints and an empty Red Bull can in the rear driver’s seat pocket, and that the tires looked used. Another described a truck that appeared to have been off-roading, with mud inside and on the tires. These are owner reports relayed by Futurism, not independently verified findings about other deliveries.

Cybertruck owner Bill Walsh, discussing a truck he picked up in April, told the Wall Street Journal, as quoted by Futurism: “It wasn’t clean like a new car should be if you’re paying $100,000.” That was Walsh’s 2024 reaction to his vehicle; the figure is part of his quote, not a current Cybertruck price or a typical purchase price.
Was transportation the cause?
One owner said a service center told them that many trucks looked that way because they had been transported by rail and truck. That is an owner’s account of an explanation they received. Futurism’s report does not independently establish that transportation caused the condition of any particular vehicle, or identify the explanation as an official Tesla statement.

What the report says about cleaning
Futurism reported that Tesla handled much of vehicle detailing in-house at its sales centers. It also said factory-site parts could arrive dusty and dirty, that the Cybertruck’s polygonal shape could make cleaning time-consuming, and that fingerprints show readily on stainless steel. The report did not include a cleaning test or verified instructions for cleaning the Cybertruck’s surfaces, so it cannot establish which products or methods are safe to use.

The Aug. 20, 2024 report establishes that some owners described receiving dirty Cybertrucks. It supplies no representative sample, total count or rate of affected deliveries, so it does not show that most—or all—Cybertrucks arrived this way. It also does not establish that vehicles were deliberately delivered used, that they had been joyridden, or what caused the condition of the vehicles in the anecdotes.
