Cybertruck finally gets Full Self-Driving (Supervised) after launching without active FSD access: selected vehicles received the feature in late September 2024, and Tesla now lists Cybertruck as supported. The system can perform many city, residential, intersection, roundabout, and highway maneuvers, but it remains supervised driver assistance—not autonomous driving.
The short answer is yes, Cybertruck has FSD, but “finally gets” describes a rollout timeline rather than a transformation into a self-driving truck. Access, software behavior, and available features can differ by vehicle and region.

Key takeaways
- Cybertruck first received Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in a limited rollout around September 29–30, 2024, reportedly with software build 2024.32.20 and FSD 12.5.5.
- Cybertruck FSD can attempt city-street and residential-road driving, turns, intersections, roundabouts, lane changes, and highway entry and exit.
- FSD (Supervised) is driver assistance, not autonomous or driverless technology; the driver must continuously monitor the road and be ready to take over.
- Availability and behavior depend on region, vehicle hardware, configuration, trim, model year, software version, and Tesla’s staged rollout process.
- Tesla sells FSD separately for Cybertruck, and eligible new owners may receive a delivery trial, but the cited material does not establish a stable current price.
What does “Cybertruck finally gets Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” mean?
“Cybertruck finally gets Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” means Tesla’s electric pickup gained access to the company’s supervised driving-assistance software after launching without active FSD access. The first reported rollout reached selected Cybertrucks in late September 2024; Tesla’s later support material identifies Cybertruck as compatible with FSD (Supervised). The truck did not become a driverless vehicle.
The wording matters because Tesla calls the package Full Self-Driving (Supervised), not autonomous driving. Tesla says, None of these advanced driver assistance features make your Tesla vehicle fully autonomous or replace you as the driver.

When did Cybertruck get FSD?
Cybertruck received its first reported FSD rollout in late September 2024, several months after the first deliveries. The rollout was staged rather than universal, so the initial reports described selected early-access vehicles rather than every Cybertruck on the road.
| Date or period | Cybertruck FSD development | What the date means |
|---|---|---|
| November 30, 2023 | First Cybertruck deliveries | The vehicle launched without active access to Tesla’s FSD software. |
| September 29–30, 2024 | Initial reported FSD rollout | Selected early-access Cybertrucks reportedly received software build 2024.32.20 with FSD 12.5.5. See the contemporary reports from Electrek and TechCrunch. |
| 2025–2026 | Official compatibility and v14 trial documentation | Tesla documented Cybertruck compatibility with FSD (Supervised) and a v14 trial requiring version 14.2 or later. |
| August 13, 2026 | Tesla support documentation identifies FSD as available for Cybertruck | The package is sold separately, subject to eligibility, configuration, software, hardware, and regional conditions. |
What can Cybertruck FSD do?
Cybertruck FSD can attempt to control the vehicle across a broad set of roads and maneuvers, but the system’s capabilities are not guarantees of successful operation in every situation. Tesla’s Cybertruck owner’s manual lists the following intended functions:
- Follow curves in the road.
- Stop at and negotiate intersections.
- Make left and right turns.
- Navigate roundabouts.
- Enter and exit highways.
- Operate on residential and city streets.
Tesla’s broader FSD documentation also describes route following, lane changes, navigation around other vehicles and objects, and assisted turns. The system may therefore cover more than highway lane keeping, but the driver remains responsible for deciding whether the vehicle is operating safely.
| Driving situation | Documented Cybertruck FSD behavior | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Residential and city streets | Can attempt to operate and follow a route. | Complex traffic, road layouts, construction, and unexpected hazards may require intervention. |
| Intersections | Can attempt stops, negotiations, and left or right turns. | The driver must monitor conflicts, signals, pedestrians, and other road users. |
| Roundabouts | Can attempt to navigate roundabouts. | The driver must be prepared to take over if the approach or exit is mishandled. |
| Highways | Can attempt highway entry, exit, route following, and lane changes. | FSD remains supervised driver assistance and is not a hands-off, eyes-off system. |
Can Cybertruck FSD drive itself?
Cybertruck FSD can control many driving tasks, but Cybertruck FSD cannot safely be treated as a self-driving or autonomous vehicle. The driver must actively supervise the system, keep attention on the roadway, and take over whenever conditions require it.
NHTSA’s current U.S. guidance states, There is no vehicle currently available for sale that is fully automated or “self-driving.”
NHTSA also says every vehicle currently sold in the United States requires the driver’s full attention for safe operation. That regulator guidance is why descriptions such as “driverless Cybertruck” and “hands-off and eyes-off Cybertruck” are inaccurate. See NHTSA’s automated-vehicle safety guidance.

When can Cybertruck FSD be activated?
According to the Cybertruck owner’s manual, FSD can be activated below 85 mph (140 km/h), including from a standstill, when FSD is enabled and available and the system detects a suitable driver.
Cybertruck activation uses the right scroll button. Tesla also notes that FSD is unavailable when the tailgate is down and requires the headlights to be set to On or Auto. A current software update is required before FSD features become available, and Tesla distributes vehicle software over the air.
Recommended Free Tools
The 85 mph (140 km/h) figure is an activation limit described in the manual, not a promise that FSD is appropriate at that speed or in every road and weather condition. Drivers must follow local speed limits and remain ready to disengage the system.
Why might Cybertruck FSD require intervention?
Cybertruck FSD may require intervention because its intended functions do not eliminate uncertainty in complex or changing road environments. Tesla specifically identifies narrow roads with oncoming traffic, construction zones, and complex intersections as situations where the driver may need to intervene.
The driver should treat every FSD maneuver as a proposed driving action that requires supervision. Construction changes, unclear lane markings, unusual right-of-way situations, blocked roads, emergency vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and unexpected behavior from other drivers can all demand immediate control from the human driver. The research used for this article did not establish an independent Cybertruck-specific intervention-rate statistic or controlled test result.

Is Cybertruck FSD included with the vehicle?
Cybertruck FSD is sold separately rather than being included automatically with every Cybertruck. Tesla’s Cybertruck FAQ confirms separate availability, while Tesla’s general support material says eligible new Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck owners may have an opportunity to experience current FSD features through a delivery trial.

For owners deciding whether to try the feature, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for Cybertruck is the relevant Tesla software option to check, but availability, pricing, trial length, and purchase terms should be confirmed directly with Tesla before payment.
Which Cybertruck software version provides FSD?
The first reported early-access Cybertruck rollout was associated with software build 2024.32.20 and FSD version 12.5.5. Those numbers describe the historical rollout and should not be treated as the required version for every Cybertruck today.
Tesla later documented an FSD v14 Cybertruck trial requiring software version 14.2 or later. Tesla listed features including Speed Profiles and Arrival Options for that trial. Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) v14 trial documentation also said that the v14 trial was no longer available for new and existing owners on that page’s current version, while new owners might instead qualify for a 30-day delivery trial.

Tesla distributes updates in staggered waves, and software can vary by vehicle hardware and configuration. Owners should check the Cybertruck touchscreen for the installed version and read the release notes rather than assuming that another Cybertruck has the same build or feature set.
Does every Cybertruck have the same FSD capability?
No. Tesla warns that Cybertruck FSD availability and behavior can vary by market region, date of manufacture, vehicle configuration, purchased options, self-driving hardware, software version, trim, and model year.
A Cybertruck may therefore be compatible with FSD in principle but lack current activation, a particular software release, or the same behavior as another Cybertruck. Tesla’s support documentation and the vehicle’s own software eligibility screen are more reliable for a specific truck than a general statement about the model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What evidence exists for FSD safety?
Tesla publishes safety claims for FSD (Supervised), but manufacturer-reported figures should be identified as manufacturer claims rather than independent validation. In Tesla’s 2026 FSD safety material, Tesla reports 7x fewer major and minor collisions and 7x fewer off-highway collisions in the comparison it presents. The claim appears in Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Vehicle Safety Report and does not establish a Cybertruck-specific intervention rate.
That distinction matters: the available research did not establish a controlled, independent Cybertruck test or a verified miles-per-intervention figure. Owner videos can illustrate behavior, but they are not a substitute for a controlled safety study.

What Cybertruck owners should check before using FSD
- Confirm eligibility: Check whether FSD is enabled or available for the specific vehicle, region, hardware, trim, and model year.
- Install the required software: Update the truck and review the release notes. Do not assume that the historical 2024.32.20 or FSD 12.5.5 rollout is the current requirement.
- Prepare the vehicle: Keep the tailgate closed, set headlights to On or Auto, and ensure the cameras and sensors are unobstructed.
- Understand the controls: Know how the system activates with the right scroll button and how to take over immediately.
- Supervise continuously: Watch the road, maintain awareness of the route and surrounding traffic, and intervene when the system behaves unexpectedly.
- Verify commercial terms: Confirm the current purchase, subscription, or delivery-trial terms with Tesla before making a decision.
A compatible Cybertruck screen protector can help protect the center touchscreen used for vehicle controls and FSD status, but a screen protector is an ownership accessory—not a performance upgrade—and it does not improve FSD accuracy. Compatibility should be verified before buying because the research did not confirm a specific listing, seller, price, or fit.
Bottom line
Cybertruck did finally get Full Self-Driving (Supervised): selected trucks received the feature in late September 2024, and Tesla now documents Cybertruck as supported. FSD can attempt city and residential driving, turns, intersections, roundabouts, lane changes, and highway maneuvers. The decisive qualification remains unchanged: Cybertruck FSD is supervised driver assistance, not autonomous driving, and the driver must remain fully responsible and ready to take over.
