What should owners know about towing?
Tesla warns that towing adds load to the motors, drivetrain, brakes, tires, and suspension and “significantly decreases range.” Towing range therefore cannot be inferred from a headline range estimate alone. Tesla’s Cybertruck towing guidance says to keep Trailer Mode active, reduce speed, allow at least twice the usual following distance, distribute trailer tongue weight appropriately, and confirm trailer lights and brakes work.

Towing capacity depends on the applicable Cybertruck configuration and wheel size. Use the owner manual and the vehicle’s hitch label for the specific truck rather than applying a generic capacity figure. How does Cybertruck provide power for tools or a home?
Tesla says Cybertruck can provide power through onboard outlets or its charge port. Equipped vehicles have a 240-volt cargo-bed outlet and two 120-volt cabin outlets. Tesla describes using a Mobile Connector and Powershare Outlet Adapter to power compatible devices or tools. Home backup is a separate setup, not simply an outlet accessory. Tesla says qualifying Foundation Series deliveries made before December 28, 2024 may be eligible for hardware at no cost. Other owners can purchase equipment through the Tesla Shop after working with a Tesla Certified Installer.
