It could—if Aprilia brought back the Caponord as a V4 adventure tourer. But no official announcement or credible specifications for a V4 Caponord are established as of October 8, 2026, so it is not yet a confirmed rival to Ducati’s Multistrada V4. The Ducati provides a real comparison point; an Aprilia challenger remains a thought experiment.
Is Aprilia making a Caponord V4?
No confirmed Caponord V4 has been announced in the evidence available as of October 8, 2026. Aprilia’s official V4 range shows that the company builds high-performance V4 motorcycles, but it does not establish that a V4 adventure tourer—or a Caponord revival—is planned.
Historical Caponord listings are not evidence of a new model. An Aprilia Greece parts and accessories list dated 2021 includes items for the Caponord 1200, but that only documents historical parts listings; it does not confirm current stock or a successor.
What the Ducati Multistrada V4 offers as a benchmark
Ducati’s US page for the MY25 Multistrada V4 lists a 1,158 cc, 90-degree, liquid-cooled V4 Granturismo engine producing 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 124 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The manufacturer lists wet weight without fuel as 505 lb (229 kg). These are US-market manufacturer specifications, not independent test measurements; Ducati cautions that specifications and equipment may vary by market.

Ducati describes the bike as offering a “comfortable, no-compromise riding experience.” That is the manufacturer’s promotional language, not an independent assessment.
What the old Caponord can—and cannot—tell us
A 2015 Aprilia Greece retail list, effective September 4, 2015, includes the Caponord 1200 ABS, Caponord 1200 ABS Elec. Travel Pack and Caponord 1200 Rally R. For the base ABS entry, it gives 1,197 cc, 128 hp and 215 kg. Those are historical figures for a Greek-market V-twin-era model, not specifications for a possible V4 successor or evidence of current availability.

Because no Caponord V4 specifications are confirmed, there is no sound basis for comparing its power, weight, price, equipment or launch timing with the Ducati. The older Caponord’s figures should not be carried forward as estimates.
What a fair comparison would require
If Aprilia confirms a model, compare like with like: the same market and model year, and equivalent trims where possible. In particular, check:

- Weight using the same convention, including whether fuel is included.
- Suspension, chassis and wheel setup.
- Rider aids, safety electronics and touring equipment.
- Seat-height options, ergonomics and fit for the intended rider.
- Price, warranty and actual dealer availability in the relevant market.
Until comparable Aprilia specifications exist, declaring either bike the numeric winner would be guesswork.

Ducati’s US MY25 page also lists accessory configurations: 31.9–32.7 in (810–830 mm) with the low seat, or 31.3–32.1 in (795–815 mm) with the low seat and low suspension kit. These are Ducati-listed configurations; check fitment and availability for the specific model year, trim and market with a dealer before buying.
