Jeep says Wrangler 4xe production has ended, while Ford’s 2026 U.S. Bronco order guide lists no hybrid configuration. Ford’s sales figures show the current Bronco is already competing strongly with the Wrangler, but they cannot tell us how buyers would respond to a future electrified Bronco.
Is a Ford Bronco hybrid confirmed for the U.S.?
Not in the cited 2026 U.S. model information. Ford’s 2026 Bronco order guide describes three engines and two transmission options, with no hybrid configuration listed. Its 2026 product-changes section says “New — None” for mechanical features.
That establishes what Ford listed in this guide, not what it may offer in a later model year. Ford’s 2025 electrification strategy announcement discusses broadening powertrain choice, including hybrids, and mentions hybrid technologies for upcoming three-row SUVs. It does not name Bronco or announce a Bronco hybrid launch date.
What happened to the Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
Jeep says the Wrangler 4xe is no longer in production. Its official 4xe resource page says limited inventory may remain at select dealers, so the end of production does not necessarily mean every unsold vehicle has disappeared from the market.

Jeep also says existing owners remain supported: its 4xe page provides access to manuals and warranty information and states that any Mopar-certified service center can service a Jeep 4xe. Ending production is not the same as ending service support.
Bronco and Wrangler are already competing for buyers
Ford reported 76,936 U.S. Bronco sales in the first half of 2026, which it called a record. For the second quarter, Ford reported 45,739 Bronco sales, also a record, and said Bronco outsold Jeep Wrangler. These are Ford-reported figures for the current models, not independent market totals or evidence of demand for a hypothetical hybrid. Ford’s Q2 2026 sales report provides the figures and comparison.

That gives the idea a credible competitive backdrop: Bronco does not need a hybrid to challenge Wrangler sales. But a plug-in powertrain could give Ford another point of difference if it were offered with the capability, availability, and price buyers want. None of those future Bronco details is established by the current U.S. order guide.
Why Australia’s 2027 Bronco Basecamp is not a U.S. announcement
Ford Australia describes a Bronco Basecamp range-extender vehicle arriving in 2027. Its Australian Bronco Basecamp page says the vehicle uses dual-motor electric drive, with a petrol engine acting as an onboard generator.

This is an electrified Bronco offering in a specific market, but it should not be treated as confirmation of a U.S. Bronco hybrid. The market and powertrain architecture matter: a range extender that generates electricity is not automatically equivalent to the Wrangler 4xe’s plug-in-hybrid setup, and the Australian announcement does not establish U.S. availability, specifications, or pricing.

A fair comparison would need confirmed vehicles and market-specific details, rather than the Bronco name and the word “hybrid” alone. Buyers considering the two would need to compare:

- Scale is 1:24
- Collect them all
- Suitable for ages 8+
- Availability and geography: whether a model is actually for sale in the buyer’s country, and when.
- Powertrain type: a plug-in hybrid and a range extender work differently; the label alone does not establish electric-driving capability.
- Off-road equipment: the available trims and hardware would need to suit the trails and use cases buyers care about.
- Price and trim choice: a compelling powertrain cannot make up for an unsuitable price or limited availability.
- Service and warranty: buyers need clear support arrangements for both the vehicle and its electrified components.
Until Ford announces a U.S. Bronco hybrid with those details, claims about its efficiency, electric range, price, release timing, or ability to replace the Wrangler 4xe would be speculation.
