The Corvette E-Ray is the better fit if you want all-wheel drive, rapid launches and added traction; the Stingray is the lower-cost way into the lineup; and the Z06 is Chevrolet’s track-focused choice. The E-Ray’s hybrid system is designed to add performance, not to make this Corvette a fuel-saving plug-in.
What makes the E-Ray different?
The E-Ray pairs a V8 with an electric drive unit at the front axle. That gives it all-wheel drive and lets the electric motor contribute torque at the front wheels. Chevrolet describes it as “the first of its kind Corvette with electrified all-wheel drive that provides all-season capability” on its 2026 Corvette comparison page.
That setup makes the E-Ray appealing for quick launches and for drivers who value the added traction of AWD. It does not make the car immune to winter hazards: tires, road conditions and driver judgment still matter.
How do the E-Ray, Stingray and Z06 compare?
Chevrolet’s current 2026 lineup figures show the E-Ray between the Stingray and Z06 in listed power and starting price. These are manufacturer specifications and advertised starting prices, not results from a controlled head-to-head test or guaranteed transaction prices.

Is the E-Ray faster than the Z06?
On Chevrolet’s current listed 0–60 mph times, the E-Ray is 0.1 second quicker: 2.5 seconds versus 2.6 seconds for the Z06. Car and Driver also recorded 2.5 seconds to 60 mph in an instrumented test of a 2024 E-Ray. That independent result is useful context, but it is not a controlled comparison of 2026 E-Ray, Stingray and Z06 models.

MotorTrend’s early E-Ray test found its tested E-Ray accelerated more quickly than the Stingray it had tested, while noting the Z06’s handling advantage from its track-oriented setup. Those are publication test findings, not universal rankings: tires, options, drivers and conditions can affect results.
Which Corvette is better for the track?
Chevrolet positions the Z06 as the track-focused model. Its naturally aspirated engine and track-oriented setup suit buyers who prioritize circuit driving and handling over AWD. The E-Ray’s speed and front-axle electric assistance do not, by themselves, establish it as the better track car.

- Revell’s highly detailed Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 coupe kit features all-new tooling and is the first 1/25-scale plastic model kit of Chevy’s latest “C8” Vette.
- Carefully detailed 6.2L “LT2” V-8 engine and 8-speed DCT transmission assembly mounts midship, just like the real thing.

The Stingray remains a less expensive choice for buyers who want a Corvette without paying for the E-Ray’s AWD hybrid system or the Z06’s track emphasis.
Does the E-Ray get better gas mileage, and can you plug it in?
Car and Driver reports EPA estimates of 16 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined for the 2024 E-Ray, and says it cannot be plugged in. Those figures do not support treating the E-Ray as a fuel-economy-first hybrid. Compare EPA labels for the specific model years you are considering rather than assuming the hybrid badge means lower fuel costs.

Which Corvette should you choose?
- Choose the E-Ray if AWD, traction and especially quick launches are priorities, and its higher listed starting price fits your budget.
- Choose the Stingray if your main priority is the lowest listed starting price among these three Corvettes.
- Choose the Z06 if you prioritize Chevrolet’s track-focused Corvette and its naturally aspirated engine.
Before deciding, confirm the current price and equipment for the exact model and configuration with Chevrolet or a dealer. The available figures do not establish the E-Ray’s long-term reliability, battery or front-drive-unit replacement costs, or complete warranty coverage, so they are not enough to compare lifetime ownership costs.
