What is new about this X5 generation?
This is the fifth-generation BMW X5. BMW says the vehicle incorporates Neue Klasse technologies, including a new digital user experience and next-generation driver-assistance systems. The company has not yet published every feature, interface detail or system capability for every market.
Where is the new X5 made?
Series production began in August 2026 at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina. The plant is therefore the confirmed production site for the new X5, although regional equipment and powertrain availability can still vary.

Which powertrains will be available?
BMW describes five drivetrain technologies for the X5 family across markets: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell. The named launch versions and timing currently disclosed by BMW are:

What is the BMW iX5 range?
The iX5 60 xDrive is the first battery-electric X5. BMW gives a preliminary estimated range of 435 miles, measured in BMW testing that follows EPA procedures. That figure is not a final EPA-certified rating, so it should not be used as a guaranteed official range until certification is complete.
BMW has not established final charging specifications, charging times, cargo measurements or the complete U.S. equipment list in the materials confirming the launch. Those details matter when comparing the iX5 with other electric SUVs and should be checked against the final regional specification.
