Cocoa Motors currently lists two versions of its laptop-sized ride-on electric platform: WALKCAR 2 and WALKCAR 2 Pro. Both weigh 2.9 kg, but differ in speed, range and Japanese public-road status. The manufacturer says WALKCAR 2 can be used on public roads in Japan, while WALKCAR 2 Pro is not supported for that use; it advises riders to confirm local rules with their prefectural police. Those claims are Japan-specific, not a ruling for other countries.
What is WalkCar, and what does “again” mean?
WalkCar is a small electric ride-on platform made by Cocoa Motors—not a laptop accessory and not a conventional stand-up scooter. The company describes the current device as A4-laptop size. Its current lineup is WALKCAR 2 and WALKCAR 2 Pro; an earlier WALKCAR is documented separately as a 2021 model. The current official store lists both newer versions for sale. The available product information supports that lineup update, not a separate 2026 relaunch or new legal ruling.
The manufacturer’s specifications are product claims, not independent performance tests. Range, turning and climbing figures below retain the test conditions Cocoa Motors gives for them.

Both models list four-wheel independent suspension and a target rider weight of 20–80 kg. Cocoa Motors lists a target age of 10–59 years and says riders under 16 should be supervised by an adult. These are the manufacturer’s stated specifications and guidance.

The higher top speed and range listed for the Pro do not make it a better choice for every rider: it has a larger stated turning radius and lacks the manufacturer’s Japanese public-road-use support. Choose by route, local rules and the model’s stated operating limits, rather than treating the two as interchangeable.
Where can you ride it legally?
Cocoa Motors’ FAQ says WALKCAR 2 and its earlier 10 km/h WALKCAR model are road legal in Japan, and says users are treated as pedestrians without needing a helmet or driver’s license. The company’s product specifications separately mark WALKCAR 2 Pro as unsupported for Japanese public-road use. These are the manufacturer’s statements, not independent legal advice or a determination of the law in every locality.

The FAQ explicitly directs customers seeking confirmation to their prefectural police. Check with the relevant authority before riding, and do not apply the manufacturer’s Japan-specific claim to another country or to the Pro model. - Press both toes down to accelerate. Continued pressure increases speed up to the selected mode’s limit.
- Raise either toe to slow; raising it further reduces speed until the device stops.
- Shift weight from side to side to turn.
- The product page says the device stops automatically when the rider steps off.
The FAQ says the device is designed to cross sidewalk curbs and tactile paving about 10 mm thick. That statement does not establish that it can safely cross every obstacle or uneven surface.
Who does the manufacturer say it is for?
Cocoa Motors describes intended users as physically and mentally healthy people aged 10–59, weighing 20–80 kg, wearing shoes at least 20 cm long and able to maintain the correct riding posture. The FAQ says it is not intended as a mobility aid for people with leg disabilities, older adults or people who have difficulty walking. This is manufacturer guidance, not an independent medical assessment.

Rain, charging and routine upkeep
Wet-weather limits
The FAQ says wet roads alone should not cause a malfunction, but warns against water submersion and does not recommend riding in rain because slipping can cause injury. That is not a general waterproofing or all-weather guarantee. The manufacturer’s wording is: “We do not recommend riding on rainy days as there is a risk of injury due to slips, etc.”
Charging and air travel
Both current models list a 68 Wh battery, AC 100–240 V charging supply and 90-minute charge time. The product page says the battery reaches 80% in 45 minutes and 100% in 90 minutes. It says shipments from 2026 onward include a 60 W dedicated charger; the store also lists a 90 W charger for shipments through 2025. Check the charger for the specific unit rather than assuming older shipments include the current version.

Use only the dedicated charger supplied for the device, as the FAQ directs. For charging away from a household outlet, the manufacturer specifies connecting that charger to a portable AC power outlet rated for at least 150 W and 150 Wh. If searching for a portable power station with a 150 Wh battery and 150 W AC outlet, verify both figures on the exact product before buying; capacity alone does not establish compatibility. Cocoa Motors also asks customers to check directly with their airline before carrying the 68 Wh battery aboard.
Tires
The official store lists front and rear tires as consumables. The FAQ says owners can replace them using the included tools and recommends replacement every six months or around 200 km for stable riding. That is the manufacturer’s recommendation, not a universal wear interval; inspect tires and follow the product guidance for your unit.
How the current models differ from the 2021 WalkCar
Cocoa Motors’ archived page describes the 2021 WALKCAR with a 1.6 m minimum turning radius, 7 km stated range, 10° climbing ability and 60-minute charging time. It is a historical model, not the current WALKCAR 2. The company’s historical page is available at the 2021 WALKCAR page.
What the official store lists
At the time represented by the official store listing, WALKCAR 2 was priced at ¥283,800 and WALKCAR 2 Pro at ¥324,500; front and rear replacement tires were ¥9,900 each. Prices, stock and included items can change, so check the official store for current availability and the charger supplied with a particular shipment.
