The CIXI Vigoz is not really an e-bike
The CIXI Vigoz is best understood as an enclosed, pedal-controlled electric three-wheeler. It has three wheels, an enclosed cabin, active cornering tilt, two seats, seat belts, climate control, storage, and a claimed top speed of 120 km/h—about 75 mph.

The driver pedals to request acceleration, pedals backward to slow down or recover energy, and can use the pedals to reverse. There is no conventional chain, belt, cassette, or gearbox connecting the cranks to the wheels. CIXI’s electronic PERS, or Pedaling Energy Recovery System, translates pedal movement into electrical control signals and propulsion.

That combination explains the “e-bike that feels more like a car” description, but it also creates an important caveat: the Vigoz is not a normal road-legal pedal-assist bicycle, and its advertised 75-mph performance has not yet been independently confirmed in a completed production vehicle.
CIXI Vigoz specifications and claims
| Item | What CIXI claims or currently describes |
|---|---|
| Vehicle type | Enclosed, active-tilting electric three-wheeler |
| Claimed top speed | 120 km/h, or approximately 75 mph |
| Prototype speed reported by CIXI | Testing of the driving-performance prototype to 100 km/h |
| Claimed range | 160 km, or approximately 100 miles |
| Battery | 22 kWh |
| Claimed charging time | Six hours from a standard 220-volt household outlet |
| Approximate dimensions | 3.5 meters long, 1.54 meters wide, and 1.65 meters high |
| Seating | Driver plus passenger, with three-point belts |
| Controls | Electronic, chainless pedal interface with under-seat steering |
| Expected road category | CIXI says the vehicle is intended for L5 use, subject to final certification and local rules |
These are development and manufacturer figures, not a completed independent road test. In particular, the 120-km/h figure should be treated as CIXI’s intended or advertised maximum until a production Vigoz has been homologated and tested independently.
How the chainless pedal system works
Traditional bicycles transmit leg power mechanically: the rider turns the cranks, which turn a chain or belt, which drives the rear wheel. The Vigoz takes a different approach. Its pedals are an electronic human-machine interface rather than a mechanical drivetrain.
- Pedal forward: the system requests acceleration or helps maintain speed.
- Pedal backward: the system requests deceleration and can send energy back into the battery through regenerative braking.
- Pedal backward farther or in the reverse function: the vehicle can reverse without a conventional mechanical reverse gear.
This arrangement gives the driver a familiar leg-driven control while allowing CIXI to package the drivetrain like an electric vehicle. It also avoids a long chain or transmission running through the cabin and makes the system more adaptable to unusual seating positions, including the Vigoz’s recumbent-like layout.
What the PERS specifications do—and do not—tell us
CIXI’s 2026 PERS catalog describes the standalone PERS component family as a 48-volt system with an embedded IoT box, CAN communication, maximum torque of 185 Nm, maximum power of 613 watts, maximum continuous power of 360 watts, and efficiency above 80 percent.
Those figures describe the PERS unit, not necessarily the complete Vigoz drivetrain. They should not be read as the Vigoz’s total motor output or as a substitute for a final vehicle power rating. The finished vehicle’s battery, motors, control software, cooling, gearing, mass, and homologated performance all matter separately.
The broader PERS platform is also not limited to the Vigoz. CIXI develops versions for pedelecs, speed bikes, cargo bikes, trikes, recumbents, handbikes, and other intermediate vehicles. That existing product ecosystem is significant because CIXI says PERS sales are helping establish the company’s commercial foundation while the larger Vigoz program moves toward industrialization.
Why the Vigoz looks and behaves more like a car
A conventional e-bike leaves the rider exposed to rain, cold, wind, road spray, and surrounding traffic. The Vigoz is designed to solve many of those problems without giving up the pedal interface.
Enclosed cabin and weather protection
The cabin includes climate control and sliding windows. That makes the vehicle more suitable for commuting in poor weather than an exposed bicycle or recumbent trike. It also gives the Vigoz a quieter, more protected environment, although CIXI has not published the kind of independent noise, heating, ventilation, or winter-range testing that would show how well it performs in everyday conditions.

Two seats and family-oriented details
The Vigoz has space for a passenger and uses three-point belts for both occupants. CIXI also lists Isofix compatibility, which points to a more car-like approach to carrying a child or family member. The company says the vehicle is programmed not to move until occupants are buckled.
Isofix compatibility does not by itself establish that every child seat is approved for the vehicle. Buyers would need to check the final owner’s manual, approved seating positions, local child-restraint rules, and the vehicle’s certified configuration.

Storage and loading
CIXI describes an extendable open trunk at the rear, giving the Vigoz more practical carrying capacity than most bicycles and many compact three-wheelers. The company also lists compatibility with a ski accessory. The final payload, trunk dimensions, permissible loads, and accessory pricing remain to be confirmed.
Active tilting
The three-wheel chassis is designed to tilt through corners rather than remaining completely upright like a conventional fixed three-wheeler. The goal is to make the vehicle feel more natural at speed and reduce the awkwardness that can come from steering a rigid three-wheeled platform.
The Vigoz is approximately 1.65 meters high. CIXI says that height is intended to improve visibility to and from larger vehicles. That may help the vehicle stand out in traffic, but it does not make the Vigoz equivalent to a full-size car in crash protection or visibility. Final results depend on the production design and certification testing.
Steering is handled by a bar positioned below the driver rather than a conventional steering wheel directly in front of the torso. CIXI reports that a prototype completed a moose test while avoiding a sudden obstacle at 65 km/h. That is a manufacturer-reported result, not an independently published crash or handling test.

Performance: 75 mph is a target, not a verified production result
The headline number is 120 km/h, roughly 75 mph. CIXI presents that as the Vigoz’s maximum speed, but its own development timeline distinguishes between the vehicle’s intended final performance and the prototype stages that have already been reached.
CIXI says its driving-performance prototype has been tested to 100 km/h, or about 62 mph. Independent coverage has likewise reported prototype speeds above 100 km/h while describing 120 km/h as the intended final-drivetrain target. That is meaningful progress, but it is not the same as independently confirming a production Vigoz at 75 mph.
The practical interpretation is:
- What is claimed: a 120-km/h, 75-mph maximum for the finished Vigoz.
- What has been reported as tested: approximately 100 km/h in a development prototype.
- What remains unresolved: final drivetrain performance, production configuration, certification, repeatability, and real-world high-speed testing.
At this speed, the Vigoz faces engineering demands that ordinary e-bikes do not: high-speed tire and wheel loads, braking performance, suspension control, thermal management, occupant restraint, stability during emergency maneuvers, and protection from other vehicles. Its enclosed body and belts make the comparison with a small electric car more useful than a comparison with a bicycle.

Battery, charging, and range
CIXI lists a 22-kWh battery and a claimed range of 160 km, or about 100 miles. It says the vehicle can recharge in six hours using a standard 220-volt household outlet, with regenerative braking and pedal input helping extend range.
The range figure was studied in the French Alps near the borders of Switzerland and Italy. That context matters. A range result from a particular Alpine test route is not the same as an EPA-style rating or a universal everyday estimate. Actual distance will vary with:
- speed and time spent near the vehicle’s maximum;
- hills, gradients, and downhill regeneration;
- temperature and battery heating or cooling;
- driver and passenger weight;
- cargo and accessories;
- tire pressure and road surface; and
- the selected driving mode and climate-control use.
The battery is large compared with the packs used by ordinary e-bikes, which is consistent with the Vigoz’s enclosed cabin, highway-oriented speed, and car-like equipment. But the six-hour charging claim should not be confused with a universal charging specification: CIXI has not publicly established a final connector, charging-current limit, regional compatibility, or production charging hardware in the available material.
Is the CIXI Vigoz road legal?
CIXI says the Vigoz is intended for the European L5 vehicle category and claims approval for public roads, including highways. The company also says it exceeds L5 crash-safety standards and meets European car regulations.
Those are CIXI’s claims, not independently verified certification results in the available research. The vehicle’s legal status will depend on final homologation and the country or state where it is operated. Registration, insurance, driver licensing, helmet rules, lighting requirements, child-seat rules, and highway access may all differ.
Recommended Free Tools
That is why calling the Vigoz an “e-bike” can be misleading. In many jurisdictions, an e-bike is limited by motor power, assisted speed, construction, and sometimes the requirement that assistance operate only while the rider pedals. A 120-km/h enclosed three-wheeler with a 22-kWh battery, passenger seating, three-point belts, and an expected L5 classification belongs to a very different regulatory conversation.
Do not assume the Vigoz can use bicycle lanes, avoid registration, or be operated without a driving license. One independent report described a driver’s license as required under the expected road classification, but that should be treated as jurisdiction-specific reporting—not a universal rule. Anyone considering one would need the final vehicle documents and a ruling from the relevant transportation authority or insurer.
Development and availability
The Vigoz began with an idea developed in Paris in 2015. CIXI’s published development sequence moves through a TRL6 prototype, a driving-performance prototype, a design-intent and fully functional prototype, industrialization and certification, and finally delivery of the first certified series.
As of August 12, 2026, CIXI’s public timeline still describes industrialization, certification, and first-series delivery as future steps. The company says it is getting closer to putting a Vigoz on the road, but the available material does not establish that customers can order a certified production vehicle today.

CIXI has described a CIXI Vigoz subscription model that would include maintenance and service. However, the company has not published a confirmed consumer price, open reservation system, delivery date, or verified customer-delivery program in the sources available for this article. Readers should treat announcements, demonstrations, and launch notifications as development updates rather than proof of current retail availability.
In short, there is currently no reliable basis for stating that the Vigoz is available for immediate purchase in the United States, Europe, or everywhere else. Availability will depend on where CIXI completes certification and how it chooses to distribute the vehicle.
Where the vehicle is being developed
CIXI says the Vigoz is designed, developed, and assembled in Haute-Savoie, France, at its facility near Annecy. The company has announced an industrialization ambition involving capacity for up to 50,000 PERS units and 1,000 active vehicles per year.
That is an announced capacity goal, not evidence that the company is already producing those volumes. The PERS component business appears to be commercially further along than the complete Vigoz vehicle. A 2026 CIXI company article describes PERS sales as helping build the company’s base while the Vigoz project advances toward its next stage.

Its accelerator program selected the PERS and Vigoz projects in late 2022, with collaboration covering engineering and industrialization topics such as components, sealing, lubrication, and production readiness. That support is relevant to the project’s manufacturing story, but it does not amount to confirmation that the finished Vigoz has entered mass production.
A separate B2B opportunity around PERS
Although there is no verified consumer retail product to recommend for the Vigoz, CIXI’s PERS developer kit and integration partnership work may interest mobility companies, trike builders, cargo-bike manufacturers, and fleet operators. CIXI publishes technical information for its PERS platform and develops configurations beyond the Vigoz. This is a business-to-business development path, not a normal consumer accessory purchase and not evidence that a complete Vigoz can be bought today.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.What has been independently verified?
Available independent coverage broadly agrees on the core concept: CIXI is developing a French three-wheeled electric vehicle with pedals, an enclosed cabin, and a claimed 120-km/h top speed. Reports also emphasize that the public vehicle remains a prototype or development project, that the 120-km/h figure is not yet a confirmed production test result, and that price and availability are unsettled.
The available research does not document:
- an independently performed full road test;
- an independently verified production homologation certificate;
- a final consumer price;
- a confirmed U.S. launch;
- a completed customer-delivery program;
- independent confirmation of the reported moose-test result; or
- a final production specification sheet covering every drivetrain, payload, braking, and charging detail.
That distinction does not make the Vigoz uninteresting. It simply separates the promising engineering concept from the facts a buyer would need before placing an order.
Who might want a Vigoz?
If it reaches production close to the published specification, the Vigoz could appeal to someone who wants more weather protection and road performance than an e-bike but less size and energy consumption than a conventional car. Its strongest use cases would likely involve commuting, short regional trips, and carrying a passenger or cargo in conditions where an open bicycle is inconvenient.

The concept is particularly distinctive for riders who prefer a pedal-based control interface but need a cabin, belts, heating, storage, and higher-speed road capability. It could also interest people who find conventional recumbent bicycles or rigid three-wheelers difficult to use in mixed traffic.
What could limit its appeal?
- Legal complexity: It may require registration, insurance, and a driving license rather than bicycle treatment.
- Uncertain availability: There is no confirmed public purchase price or delivery schedule.
- Prototype risk: Final performance, reliability, service coverage, and certification are not yet established.
- Charging dependence: A 22-kWh battery and six-hour household charging claim are a very different ownership proposition from plugging in a small e-bike battery.
- Road positioning: Its compact dimensions may help in urban areas, but its 75-mph target could place it among much faster and heavier traffic.
- Limited support information: Battery warranty, replacement cost, payload, tire sizes, repair network, insurance pricing, and software-support terms have not been fully published.
What to check before considering one
When CIXI publishes final sales or subscription details, prospective buyers should look beyond the headline speed and ask for the following:
- Final legal classification: Confirm the category in the country or state where the vehicle will be used.
- Certification documents: Look for the actual homologation and safety documentation, not only a development claim.
- Verified performance: Check whether 120 km/h applies to the production vehicle and under what test conditions.
- Real range: Ask for standardized range data and separate cold-weather, highway, passenger, and climate-control figures.
- Charging details: Confirm the connector, maximum current, household-circuit requirements, and whether faster charging is supported.
- Payload and storage: Check the combined occupant-and-cargo limit and the usable dimensions of the extendable trunk.
- Child-seat approval: Verify which Isofix seats and seating positions are approved.
- Service arrangements: Understand maintenance coverage, software updates, battery repairs, roadside assistance, and replacement body panels.
- Subscription terms: If the vehicle is offered as a subscription, review mileage limits, damage liability, insurance, cancellation terms, deposit requirements, and end-of-contract treatment.
- Local road access: Confirm whether the intended route allows an L5-class vehicle, particularly if highway travel is part of the appeal.
Bottom line
The CIXI Vigoz is a remarkably car-like interpretation of pedal-controlled electric mobility: an enclosed, tilting three-wheeler with two seats, belts, climate control, storage, and a chainless electronic pedal system. CIXI claims 120 km/h and 160 km of range, but the available evidence supports describing those as advertised or intended figures rather than independently verified production results.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe most important fact for prospective buyers is its status. As of August 12, 2026, CIXI still lists industrialization, certification, and first-series delivery as upcoming stages, with no public final price, confirmed reservation opening, or established customer-delivery program. The Vigoz may eventually occupy an intriguing space between an e-bike and a small electric car, but for now it is a development vehicle to watch—not a normal e-bike you can simply purchase and ride anywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CIXI Vigoz actually an e-bike?
No. The Vigoz uses pedals as an electronic control interface, but it is an enclosed three-wheeled electric vehicle with a claimed 120-km/h top speed, passenger seating, belts, and an expected L5 classification. It should not automatically receive ordinary e-bike treatment or access to bicycle lanes.
Can the CIXI Vigoz really reach 75 mph?
CIXI claims a 120-km/h, or approximately 75-mph, maximum speed. CIXI and independent coverage have reported development-prototype testing at about 100 km/h, but the available research does not independently verify a production Vigoz reaching 120 km/h.
Can you buy the CIXI Vigoz now?
Not on the evidence currently available. CIXI’s timeline still places industrialization, certification, and first-series delivery in future stages. The company has not published a confirmed consumer price, open reservation system, or delivery date.
What is the CIXI Vigoz’s range and charging time?
CIXI claims a 160-km, or approximately 100-mile, range from a 22-kWh battery and says recharging takes six hours from a standard 220-volt household outlet. The range was studied in the French Alps, so actual results will vary with speed, hills, temperature, payload, and climate-control use.
Will the Vigoz be legal on public roads?
CIXI says the Vigoz is intended for the European L5 category and claims public-road and highway approval, but final certification and local rules determine what is legal. Registration, insurance, licensing, helmet requirements, and highway access may vary by jurisdiction.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The CIXI Vigoz is an enclosed, pedal-controlled electric three-wheeler—not a conventional e-bike. Its 75-mph top speed and 100-mile range remain CIXI claims for a vehicle still moving through industrialization and certification, so buyers should wait for final homologation, pricing, and delivery details.
