Stellantis has not announced that vehicle’s production name, final price, powertrain, or on-sale date. A 2028 model-year arrival and a price below $40,000 have been reported by Carscoops, but those details are not confirmed in the official material cited here.
What Chrysler has actually announced
At its May 2026 North America Investor Day, Stellantis described a three-crossover expansion for Chrysler beneath the Pacifica. The plan includes a mid-size crossover based on the STLA One platform and two smaller vehicles that are variants of one another, using shared, proven platforms from Europe. Stellantis’ Investor Day transcript places the smaller pair in a $25,000–$35,000 price space; that is intended positioning for those two vehicles, not a published price for the mid-size SUV.
The announcement establishes a product direction, not a complete launch plan. It does not give a production name, firm sale date, final MSRP, powertrain choices, range, or detailed specifications for the mid-size crossover. It also does not say whether the vehicle will use the Airflow name.
Is Chrysler’s new SUV coming in two years?
Carscoops reported on June 27, 2026, that the crossover was expected as a 2028 model and would cost less than $40,000. Those are reported targets, not a confirmed dealer-arrival date or official MSRP. The official Stellantis announcement cited above describes the vehicle and platform but does not independently confirm either detail. Carscoops’ report is therefore best read as an indication of the current expectation, not a guarantee.

What the SUV could mean for Chrysler
The crossover is part of a broader attempt to give Chrysler products beyond its minivan lineup. Stellantis’ May 2026 strategy says regional brands such as Chrysler can benefit from shared global assets, while directing 70% of brand and product investments to Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, FIAT, and Pro One. That corporate priority provides context for the use of shared platforms, but it does not guarantee that any particular Chrysler model will reach production. Stellantis’ strategy announcement does not replace a vehicle-specific launch confirmation.
What Chrysler sells now—and the relevant price comparison
The current confirmed Chrysler product context is the 2027 Pacifica minivan. Chrysler announced its refresh in April 2026, with a U.S. LX starting MSRP of $41,495. Seven-passenger seating is standard, and eight-passenger seating is available on Select. That is a published price for a current minivan, not a direct price comparison with the unpriced mid-size SUV. Chrysler’s 2027 Pacifica announcement also cites more than 16.6 million Chrysler minivans and more than 1.15 million Pacifica models sold as of the announcement.

For a buyer deciding whether to wait, the key difference is certainty: the Pacifica has announced specifications and pricing, while the SUV remains a planned product with major details outstanding. Compare passenger and cargo needs, availability, price, equipment, warranty and dealer support when Chrysler publishes the SUV’s final information. Do not assume that another Stellantis vehicle’s powertrain or equipment will carry over simply because the SUV is expected to use a shared platform.
