The angular vehicle made its international debut at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, but its price, certification, and delivery plans remain market- and schedule-dependent.
What debuted at CES 2025
The Land Aircraft Carrier is a modular flying-car system, not a naval vessel. Its ground vehicle stores a compact eVTOL in a rear compartment, allowing the owner to travel by road and then deploy the aircraft from a suitable launch site.

Why it looks like a Cybertruck
The six-wheel ground vehicle has a sharply creased, geometric body. That angular styling prompted comparisons with Tesla’s Cybertruck, although the Land Aircraft Carrier’s defining feature is its aircraft-carrying architecture rather than its appearance.

Two machines in one system
- Mothership: A six-wheel electric vehicle built to transport, charge and recover the air module.
- eVTOL: A detachable, two-person electric aircraft with six rotors and a 270-degree panoramic cockpit.
XPENG AEROHT co-founder Tan Wang described the project this way: “We have transformed the dream of flying cars into a tangible reality.” That statement reflects the company’s product vision; the cited coverage does not include independent flight-test results.

How the Land Aircraft Carrier launches its aircraft
- Drive to a launch location. The mothership carries the eVTOL inside its rear section while operating as a road vehicle.
- Separate the modules. At the launch site, the aircraft leaves the mothership and prepares for flight.
- Unfold the rotors. The air module extends its six-rotor flight system before takeoff.
- Take off vertically. The eVTOL is designed to rise without a runway.
- Fly under the selected control mode. XPENG AEROHT describes both manual control and assisted autonomous modes.
- Land and reconnect. After the flight, the aircraft is intended to return to the ground vehicle, where the modules reconnect for transport and charging.
The sequence is the product’s central advantage: the road vehicle handles ground mobility and logistics, while the aircraft provides short-range access above traffic or difficult terrain. The sources do not establish how much space, surface strength, weather protection or local authorization an actual launch would require.
What XPENG AEROHT claims about the hardware
| Component or claim | Reported specification | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Air module | Two occupants, six rotors, 270-degree panoramic cockpit | Manufacturer-reported design features; no independent test data cited |
| Flight control | Manual and assisted autonomous modes | Described by XPENG AEROHT; the cited sources do not establish certification or operational limits |
| Ground vehicle | Six-wheel electric vehicle using an 800-volt silicon-carbide platform | Manufacturer-reported architecture |
| Combined ground range | More than 1,000 km | XPENG AEROHT claim reported by Interesting Engineering; this is not an independently measured flight range |
| Charging | The mothership can recharge the air module | Company-reported capability; charging time and conditions were not stated |
| Planned production | Up to 10,000 air modules annually at a Guangzhou facility | Planned capacity reported by Interesting Engineering, not a verified production record |
Orders, price and delivery timing
The commercial figures reported around the debut are not interchangeable. An expression of intent, an early planning estimate and a later media-reported price each describe a different level of certainty.
| Question | What has been reported | What buyers should infer |
|---|---|---|
| How many orders? | More than 3,000 intent orders, reported by XPENG AEROHT through Interesting Engineering and TechCrunch in 2025 | These are expressions of interest, not necessarily binding contracts, completed sales or delivered vehicles. |
| How much does it cost? | TechCrunch reported a price below US$300,000 in 2025. Yicai Global quoted XPENG AEROHT founder and president Zhao Deli in 2024 saying the unit would cost at least CNY1 million, reported by Yicai as US$138,100. | The figures come from different dates and reporting contexts. They should not be treated as one confirmed global MSRP. |
| When are deliveries? | CES 2025 coverage said first deliveries were planned for 2026. An earlier April 2024 Yicai report described late-2025 mass delivery. | The 2026 plan is the later cited schedule, but both dates are company projections and the cited material provides no completed delivery record. |
| Can the company build them? | A Guangzhou facility was reported as planned for up to 10,000 air modules per year. | That is a stated capacity target, not evidence that the facility is already producing at that rate. |
Is it a real flying car?
It is a real, physically integrated road-and-aircraft product system that XPENG AEROHT displayed publicly. Calling it a “flying car” is reasonable in the sense that one vehicle carries a functioning eVTOL for deployment. It does not mean the entire six-wheel vehicle flies, nor does the cited material prove that customers can routinely operate the aircraft today.
The available coverage contains no independent flight testing, verified flight-performance figures, completed customer deliveries or confirmed retail price for every market. The aircraft’s manual and assisted-autonomous descriptions are product claims rather than evidence that either mode is approved for passenger service.
Can you buy the Chinese flying car?
Potential customers may be able to register interest, but the cited reports do not establish immediate, broadly available consumer sales. A buyer would need all of the following to line up:
- A finalized price and purchase contract for the relevant country or region.
- Delivery availability rather than an intent-order allocation.
- Airworthiness approval for the aircraft and authorization to operate it in the intended airspace.
- A legal launch and landing location, plus any required pilot qualification or operating permissions.
- Road registration and compliance for the mothership.
- Access to maintenance, charging and training support for both modules.
Those requirements vary by jurisdiction. The cited sources do not show that routine passenger operations are approved everywhere or that the Land Aircraft Carrier is broadly available for immediate purchase.

Why the modular design matters
Most flying-car concepts either combine road and flight hardware permanently or present an aircraft that requires separate ground transport. XPENG AEROHT’s approach separates the jobs: the mothership carries batteries, people and equipment on the road, while the eVTOL is used only when vertical flight is useful. That could reduce the need to drive an aircraft on public roads or keep it at every destination.

The system must safely separate and reconnect two vehicles, protect the aircraft during road travel, manage charging between modes and satisfy both automotive and aviation rules. No reliability data for those operations was provided.
Intended uses
Leisure and exploration
XPENG AEROHT positions the Land Aircraft Carrier for personal recreation and exploration. The detachable aircraft could, in principle, let occupants bypass terrain or traffic after driving close to their destination.
Emergency response
The company has also mentioned public-service uses such as emergency search and rescue. The cited material does not document deployments, government contracts or approvals for those missions, so this remains a proposed application rather than an established service.
What to watch before treating it as a mainstream vehicle
- Certification: Approval for the eVTOL, its autonomous assistance and its operating locations.
- Production evidence: Whether the Guangzhou plant reaches the announced capacity.
- Binding sales: Conversion of intent orders into contracts and deliveries.
- Final regional pricing: A published MSRP that explains the difference between the later “below US$300,000” report and the earlier CNY1 million estimate.
- Operational proof: Independent data on range, charging, weather limits, turnaround time and module reconnection.
Bottom line
China’s Cybertruck-like “aircraft carrier” is XPENG AEROHT’s Land Aircraft Carrier: a six-wheel electric mothership that carries and deploys a two-seat eVTOL. Its CES 2025 debut demonstrates a tangible modular design, but the headline should not be mistaken for proof of mass-market availability. More than 3,000 reported intent orders, a price reported below US$300,000, and planned 2026 deliveries all remain subject to contracts, certification, production and regional operating rules.
