Chevrolet unveiled two Corvette concepts at The Quail during Monterey Car Week on August 15, 2025: the all-electric CX and the hybrid, track-focused CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. Neither is intended for production. Chevrolet says the concepts are design visions meant to inform Corvette styling in the years ahead, and both were planned for play in Gran Turismo 7.
What are the Corvette CX and CX.R concepts?
The CX and CX.R are contrasting design studies, not new production Corvettes. Chevrolet says the concepts emerged from a General Motors design exercise involving multiple studios, then were designed and fabricated at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Michigan. At the unveiling, Chevrolet executive design director Phil Zak said the project let the teams “step[] away from the constraints of production vehicles” and added to Corvette’s design direction. Chevrolet’s August 15, 2025 announcement captions the concepts “Not available for sale.”

How the CX differs from the CX.R
Chevrolet positions the CX as a road-and-track vision and the CX.R as its more focused racing counterpart. The figures and engineering details below are manufacturer-stated concept specifications, not results from independent road or track testing.

Corvette CX: an all-electric concept with fan-assisted aero
The CX’s shape combines familiar Corvette cues—a forward-lunging nose, a horizontal “chine” line and dual-element taillights—with a dramatically low canopy and roofline under 41 inches. Chevrolet describes the cockpit as having a forward-opening canopy, Inferno Red ballistic-textile seats and a digital windscreen that displays performance information; these are concept features, not confirmed production equipment.

Four motors and a 90-kWh battery
Chevrolet specifies four electric motors, one for each wheel, with more than 2,000 hp and a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery housed in the chassis. Those are claims for the concept, not verified output or range figures for a road-legal car. Chevrolet has not supplied tested acceleration, lap times or driving-range results for the CX in its announcement.
What Chevrolet means by the Vacuum Fan System
The CX’s unusual aero concept uses built-in fans to draw air through open channels in the body. Chevrolet says the system generates downforce and adjusts airflow at the rear diffuser; the front diffuser and rear wing are also active. The release describes the design intent but does not give measured downforce figures or test conditions.

Corvette CX.R: a V8-electric racing vision
The CX.R sits lower and wears more prominent active aerodynamic elements than the CX. Its yellow-and-black livery references Corvette GT race cars. Chevrolet describes a lightweight, competition-oriented cabin with exposed carbon fiber and suede-wrapped foam seat inserts.

Chevrolet says the CX.R pairs a mid-mounted 2.0-liter DOHC twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors. The V8 is specified at up to 900 hp and 15,000 rpm, while total system output is stated as 2,000 hp. Chevrolet says the V8 runs on renewable e-fuel and sends power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. These are concept specifications, not independently tested performance figures.

Are the Corvette CX concepts going into production?
No. Chevrolet says neither concept is intended for production. The company presented them as a design exercise to explore Corvette’s future design language, rather than as previews of cars customers can order. Their power and technology claims therefore should not be read as specifications for an upcoming production Corvette.

Chevrolet announced that both concepts would be playable in Gran Turismo 7 in partnership with Polyphony Digital, a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Chevrolet’s concept page described the game as a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 title and said the cars were expected “late August, 2025.” Gran Turismo’s announcement also said both concepts were planned for the game. Those announcements establish the planned game connection, not a verified current game version or store listing. Playing the game is the practical way to experience the concepts; it does not make either car a purchasable production vehicle.
